WHY THE SEA FEELS SO GOOD 🌊

Sometimes you don’t need to do anything.

You just need to be near the sea.

THE RHYTHM

The repetitive sound and movement of the waves can help slow everything down — your breathing, your thoughts, your nervous system.

THE BLUE

There’s something about looking out across blue water that gives your brain a little less to process.

Less noise.
More space.

THE SEA AIR

That salty, fresh-air feeling?

Being outside, breathing deeply and stepping away from screens and everyday demands can help your body shift out of constant go mode.

THE WATER

Cold or warm, being in water brings you back into your body.

You notice your breath.
Your skin.
The temperature.
What’s happening right now.

Very useful when your brain has 37 tabs open.

THE HORIZON

Looking towards a wide, open horizon gives our eyes somewhere to rest.

Sometimes our minds follow.

AND MAYBE THAT’S THE MAGIC…

The sea doesn’t ask you to be productive.
It doesn’t need you to fix anything.
It just gives you somewhere to breathe.
A little nervous-system reset, courtesy of nature.

Have you heard of the Turtle Theory?

You don’t have to rush.
You don’t have to have it all figured out.
You don’t need to measure your progress
against somebody else’s.

Keep moving.
Keep choosing what feels right for you.
One small step at a time.

You’re not behind.
You’re simply moving at your own pace ✨

🧠☀️ The Pressure to Be Social During Summer

Summer can bring a lot of pressure to be out, busy and social.

BBQs, festivals, holidays, family gatherings, days out… it can feel like everyone else is having the “perfect summer.”

But for neurodivergent people, constant socialising can be exhausting.

The noise, crowds, changes to routine, unfamiliar environments and pressure to be “on” can quickly lead to overwhelm.

And sometimes, what you actually need is:

🌿 A quiet day at home
🎧 Time away from noise and people
🧸 Your familiar routines
💬 Saying “no” without feeling guilty
🔋 Time to recharge after socialising

Resting isn't missing out. And needing less social time doesn't mean you don't care about people.

You don't have to fill every sunny day with plans.

This summer, try asking yourself:

“What would feel good for me — rather than what do I feel I should be doing?” 💛

💭 Healthy eating doesn’t look the same for everyone.

For neurodivergent people, food can be complicated by sensory sensitivities, executive functioning, routines, strong preferences and simply remembering to eat.

We want to remind you:

💛 Safe foods are okay.
💛 Convenience foods are okay.
💛 Eating the same meal repeatedly is okay.
💛 Using reminders to eat is okay.
💛 You don’t have to love cooking.
💛 “Good enough” can be good enough.

Healthy eating isn’t about perfection — it’s about finding realistic ways to nourish yourself that work with your brain, not against it. 🧠🌱

A conversation I had recently has stayed with me.

She said, "I feel guilty whenever I do something that's just for me."

💭 As a therapist working with women, I hear this time and time again.
Many women grow up believing they should be the one holding everything together.

Caring for everyone else often becomes second nature, while their own needs are pushed to the bottom of the list.

The problem is, constantly putting yourself last doesn't just leave you exhausted. It can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself.

💡 One of the most powerful shifts I see in therapy is when women start giving themselves permission to rest, to experience joy, and to prioritise their own wellbeing without feeling they have to earn it first.
Because looking after yourself isn't selfish.

It's an essential part of your mental, emotional and physical health.

✨ If you're tired of carrying everyone else and you're ready to start making space for yourself, therapy can help. If you'd like to find out more about working together, I'd love to hear from you.

💛 What's one thing you could do for yourself this week, without apologising for it?

💭Being diagnosed as neurodivergent as an adult can feel like relief and grief at the same time.

Relief because things finally make sense.

Grief because you realise how many years you spent believing you were lazy, too sensitive, too much, or simply not trying hard enough.

⚡️A diagnosis doesn't change who you are.
⚡️It changes the story you've been telling yourself.
⚡️You're not becoming someone new.
⚡️You're finally understanding who you've always been.

💙 If you're navigating a recent diagnosis, or you've always felt different but never understood why, therapy can provide a safe space to make sense of your experiences and move forward with greater self-compassion. If you're ready to start that conversation, get in touch.

As therapists, we know that calm doesn’t look the same for every child. 💛

For neurodivergent children, regulation may look like:

✨ moving their body to release energy and feel grounded
✨ using sensory supports to feel safe and balanced
✨ having predictable routines that reduce overwhelm
✨ taking quiet moments to reset
✨ feeling accepted, understood, and supported

Our role is not to teach children to hide their needs—it’s to understand what their behaviour is communicating and support them with compassion.

Regulation begins with connection. When we see each child as an individual, we can create environments where they feel safe to thrive. 🌈

💭 Menopause is more than a physical transition…

It’s a new chapter that can affect your emotional well-being, relationships, confidence & sense of self.

❤️ Be kind to yourself. Small, intentional steps can make a big difference. Remember you don’t have to navigate this journey alone.
