Respite care is just as important as long term stays.

If you have a loved one needing some TLC, or you're a carer wanting some time to yourself, we can help.

In cases of emergencies, residents can join us in a matter of days. There's also no maximum term, so people can stay as long as they like.

To help prepare, we also encourage people to visit beforehand and get a good feel for Birchwood House. We're always happy to show you around!

Respite care provides temporary and professional help in a safe environment. At Birchwood House in Speldhurst, Kent, we’ve been offering short-term care for over 25 years.

We're often asked: do residents get a choice in what they do?

Of course. In fact, we're very much guided by what our residents want to do each day. For some people, this means activities, visits and routines.

But for others, it could be a chill morning, a day in bed, or doing life at a slower pace.

We wouldn't be a true home-from-home without this mindset! Everyone should do exactly what they would in their own home and we're here to support them in doing this, however that looks like 🏡

We are delighted to share that our amazing Lifestyle Lead, Lizzie, has been named as a finalist for the Dementia Champion Award at the Kent Integrated Care Alliance Kent Care Awards.

This recognition means so much and reflects the dedication, compassion and commitment Lizzie shows every day. Last month, she also opened her dementia cafe at Christ Church Southborough.
