How often do we constrict ourselves, so our life becomes smaller and shrinks in possibilities?

In some of our classes this week, we’ve explored one of the Kleshas, the self-limiting beliefs we hold about ourselves to stay small, to miss our potential and self-growth.

How many times do we adopt a closed mindset of ‘I’m no good at that’ or ‘what if I fail at that thing I want to try?’ or ‘Nothing can change’.

To bring this to life in our yoga postures, we’ve been playful with shapes, to gently step out of our comfort zone, to realise ‘so what if I fall out or wobble, who cares!’

‘When we breathe more deeply, we feel more. When we soften our grip, we sense more. When we open space in the body, we open the lens of the mind’

Here’s the thing, what if you’re so much more than you think you are?!

Thank you for showing up and trusting us time and time again ❤️

Can a single word change your heart rate?

Recently, I’ve heard the word “OFSTED” a few times in different conversations, and with it, I’ve begun to notice a physiological response when I hear it... A subtle tightening. A shiver across the surface of my skin. An alertness in my body that seems to arrive before any conscious thought.

What surprised me most is that it’s been 10 years since I’ve worked through an OFSTED!

Today, I’m a yoga teacher. I work with my loving family. I feel like a totally different version of myself since the last OFSTED I worked through, but, despite my changes in circumstances, the passage of time, the significant life events that have shaped me, despite all of that, I still find myself having a visceral physiological response to hearing a single word…

It reminds me how powerfully the body can remember experiences long after the circumstances themselves have changed and the brain has moved on.

It’s made me reflect on Svadhyaya, the yogic practice of self-study. Often, we think of self-study as understanding our thoughts, beliefs, and behaviours. But it can also be about noticing the wisdom of the body. Paying attention to the stories our nervous system is still telling. Becoming curious about our reactions rather than dismissing or judging them.

The physiological response isn’t a problem to fix. It’s information. An invitation to pause and ask… What does this reaction have to teach me? What experiences shaped it? What happens when I meet it with awareness rather than resistance?

The more I practise yoga, the more I’m reminded that self-awareness isn’t just about what’s happening in the mind. It’s also about listening to the body with honesty, connection and compassion.

Sometimes a single word can reveal just how much there is still to learn about ourselves. Because the more awareness we have, the more choice we have in how we respond to life.

If your school or organisation would be interested in the workshops we deliver about nervous system regulation and navigating stress, do get in touch.

Positive Impact Award

We’re so delighted to share with you our wonderful news that we have won the North Tyneside Positive Impact Award for Wellbeing!

As we approach our 10th birthday, we’ve tried throughout to be a force for positive change; our joy is bringing movement, mindfulness, breathing, relaxation and yoga philosophy to people of all journeys and seasons of life.

Because of the strength of our Jasmine community, we’re able to pioneer initiatives to offer support to individuals, families, local schools, marginalised groups, universities and charities.

With our wonderful team, we bring a depth of specialist training across pregnancy, postnatal, menopause, trauma-informed practice, advanced restorative yoga, advanced pranayama, yoga for cancer, and work with children with additional and complex needs.

Our core values lie in delivering experienced, high-quality teaching that is inclusive and responsive. We are particularly committed to trauma-informed approaches for adults and specialist support for children with complex learning needs, ensuring yoga is accessible, safe, and meaningful for those who might have thought yoga wasn’t for them. We offer a DAYA Code, which means 'compassion' as a continuous offering for anyone struggling to pay for a yoga class. This allows anyone, no questions asked, to have either a free or subsidised class.

So a huge thank you to our yoga community…. You give us the platform to really make a difference; we’re very grateful.

✨ Introducing… The Connected Parent Workshops ✨

We spend all year looking forward to summer. Long days at the beach, ice cream for tea, slower mornings, and the feeling that we should simply be “letting go” and relaxing.

But for many parents, the summer holidays can feel anything but restful.

Without the structure of school and routine, the days can quickly become filled with emotional overwhelm, constant negotiation (involving more ice creams), shifting expectations, and the pressure to keep everyone happy while trying to avoid meltdowns. What’s often presented as a carefree season can instead feel exhausting, dysregulating, and relentless.

In this first workshop of 3 - Understanding the Stress Response - Steph will explore why parenting can feel especially overwhelming when children are experiencing big emotions, stress, or change, and how understanding the autonomic nervous system can help make sense of those moments.

Designed for parents and caregivers, this session offers compassionate, practical guidance to help you better understand emotional regulation, the stress response and the powerful connection between body and mind. You’ll come away with supportive tools and nervous system-informed strategies to help both you and your child navigate challenging moments with greater connection.

Each session blends theory with real-life application, offering practical techniques you can begin using immediately at home.

**Workshop 1: Understanding the Stress Response**

Explore how the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) influences behaviour, emotions, and connection. Learn what happens when children move into stress states, why certain behaviours emerge during overwhelm and practical ways to support regulation, safety and connection through times of stress and change.
