01273 488 121 We wholly own the business and are not controlled by any parent or holding company. Our independence means that we are able to be flexible in our approach to meeting clients’ requirements for service provision, and the subsequent pricing

of their chosen service. Every funeral is different and should be memorable for the family; it is individual to them and the deceased. We do our utmost to provide a service that is both caring and dignified and take pride in making a difficult time easier for a family to cope with. We also provide a full range of memorial stones, ashes caskets and keepsakes.

When arranging a funeral, there can be several decisions to make at what may already be a difficult time.
This guide outlines some of the key arrangements families are often asked to consider first, helping to provide a simple starting point.
Every funeral is unique, and there is no right or wrong approach—what matters most is creating a farewell that feels meaningful and reflects the person being remembered.

World Environment Day 🌿

The natural world has a unique way of helping us pause, reflect, and remember.

For many families, a garden, woodland path, park, or favourite outdoor place becomes intertwined with memories of someone they love.

Today we're celebrating those special places, while recognising the importance of protecting our environment for future generations.

We are proud to support families in making choices that reflect what matters most to them and to play our part in caring for the world we all share.

Flowers Chosen with Love & Meaning 🌸

Choosing floral tributes for a loved one is a deeply personal part of saying goodbye.

There is no right or wrong choice. You may choose flowers you love, flowers they loved, favourite colours, seasonal blooms, or arrangements that simply remind you of them.
Any style or creation can be arranged to reflect your wishes.

For those wanting to add a truly personal touch, some of our florists can even incorporate flowers from your own garden.

We carefully select trusted florists who we know will fulfil your wishes with care, sensitivity, and to the highest standard.

Did you know? Many flowers and colours carry their own symbolic meanings…

• White Lily – purity and innocence
• Red Rose – love and respect
• White Rose – remembrance
• Chrysanthemum – loyalty and remembrance
• Forget-me-nots – lasting remembrance
• Lavender – devotion and peace

Floral tributes can tell a story without words — reflecting a life, a personality, and the love that remains.

If you would like guidance in choosing something meaningful and personal, we are always here to help.

A visual tribute is a meaningful way to remember a loved one.

Created from a collection of photographs and set to music, it can reflect a life, tell a story, and offer a moment of quiet reflection during the service.

This service is provided by a specialist colleague we work closely with and is carefully put together in collaboration with families to ensure it feels personal and fitting.

Families can provide photographs in any format, whether that is printed copies or digital images. There is no limit on the number of photos chosen, and music can be selected to reflect what feels right — whether that is a single piece or a combination of songs.

We are also able to enhance photographs where needed, including improving older or damaged images, and in some cases adding colour to black and white photos to help bring memories to life.

Video clips can also be included within the tribute, helping to create a more personal and reflective story of a life lived.

These tributes can be played at most venues, including crematoria, churches, and other service locations, and families are able to keep a copy afterwards as a lasting keepsake.

If you would like to know more, we are here to help.

Be Kind to Yourself 💚

Grief doesn’t follow a timeline.
Some days may feel manageable, while others can feel overwhelming — and that’s okay.

During Mental Health Awareness Week, we want to gently remind anyone living with bereavement or loss to be kind to yourself.

Take time to rest.
Accept support when you need it.
Allow yourself to feel without pressure or expectation.

Healing after loss is not about “moving on” — it’s about learning to carry love and memories forward in your own way, at your own pace.

If someone you know is grieving, a small act of kindness or a simple check-in can mean more than you realise.

You are not alone. 💚

🌿 Dying Matters Awareness Week 2026 🌿
4th – 10th May 2026

At Richard Green Funeral Directors, we are proud to support Dying Matters Awareness Week, an initiative led by Hospice UK, which encourages open, honest conversations about death, dying, and bereavement.

This year’s theme, “Let’s talk about death and dying”, reminds us how important it is to break down the stigma that still surrounds these conversations. Talking openly can help families feel more prepared, supported, and connected during life’s most difficult moments.

We believe that discussing wishes, planning ahead, and sharing memories should be part of living well and supporting one another with compassion and dignity.

💬 Whether it’s with family, friends, or professionals, starting the conversation can make all the difference.

During Dying Matters Awareness Week, we encourage our community to take a moment to reflect, talk, and support one another.

If you would like guidance or support in planning ahead or arranging a funeral, our caring team is here to help whenever you need us.

🤍 Let’s make it easier to talk about death — because every conversation matters.

💚🌍 How to support Environmental Protection within Funerals.
Below are some ideas of ways to protect the natural earth with your funeral choices. Please contact us for more information.

🌳Natural burials
- Woodland or meadow burials.
- Burials on private land.

🌳Eco-friendly coffins
- Willow or Wicker.
- Wool.
- Cardboard.
- Bamboo.

🌳Final resting place for Ashes
- Plant a tree with an ashes memorial pod.
- Wildflower memorial ashes seed balls.
- Environmentally conscious ash scattering.
- Eco-friendly urns, such as papier mache.

🌳Floral arrangements
- Oasis free tributes instead using biodegradable materials such as moss.
- Choose local seasonal flowers to help reduce the carbon footprint and consider reusing them at home or donating them to the local Hospice or Nursing Home.

🌳Other ideas
- Order of service, many of us still prefer to have something we can keep, these can be produced using environmentally friendly paper and inks.
Rather than having a printed order of service, you could create an e-book.
- Ask guests to car share or take public transport.
- If you’re planning a funeral procession, can some of it be done on foot? Is it easy for family and friends to walk to the church or cemetery?
- Motor hearse alternatives like a horse-drawn or even a pedal bike.
- Live-streaming funerals to reduce travel miles.
