Liz Leech Therapies I help with muscle, joint and fascial pain and the emotional toll from living with chronic conditions

Welcome
I’m Liz Leech and I practise Craniosacral Therapy, Clinical Massage and Myofascial Release. For the past 8 years I have worked mainly with people with long-term pain and chronic health conditions helping them to reduce their pain levels and deal with the emotional toll that can go along with such conditions. Over the last 15 years as a therapist I have learned that pain doesn’t often happe

n in isolation. Things going on in our wider lives (relationships, work stress, bereavement, having children, caring for aging parents, hormonal changes) often mirror what is happening in our body. Exploring the bigger picture, becoming more aware, gently and with compassion is often the first step to feeling better. My approach is all about creating a supportive space, where using a combination of hands on techniques, gentle conversational enquiry and awareness of what you are feeling/sensing in your body we can work together to find out what you need to come back to an ideal state of balance and health, so you can go about your daily life with more ease and less struggle.

A friend just posted this and as I have clients whose family members have dementia, I thought I’d share. So sad that it seems more and more prevalent. CranioSacral Therapy can support brain health by improving fluid flow to and from the brain enabling the glymphatic system (the brain’s lymphatic system) to work more efficiently.

If I ever get dementia, I’d like my family to hang this wish list up on the wall where I live. I want them to remember these things.

1. Every time you enter the room announce yourself. “Hi- it’s ………...” NEVER ask- Do you know who I am??? That causes anxiety.

2. If I get dementia, I want my friends and family to embrace my reality. 🌸

3. If I think my dead friend is still alive, or if I think we’re visiting my parents for dinner, let me believe those things. I’ll be much happier for it.❤️

4. If I get dementia, don’t argue with me about what is true for me versus what is true for you.👍🏽❤️👍🏽

5. If I get dementia, and I am not sure who you are, do not take it personally. My timeline is confusing to me.👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

6. If I get dementia and can no longer use utensils, do not start feeding me. Instead, switch me to a finger-food diet, and see if I can still feed myself.❤️🥰❤️🥰

7. If I get dementia, and I am sad or anxious, hold my hand and listen. Do not tell me that my feelings are unfounded.

8. If I get dementia, I don’t want to be treated like a child. Talk to me like the adult that I am. ❤️

9. If I get dementia, I still want to enjoy the things that I’ve always enjoyed. Help me find a way to get outdoors, exercise, read, and visit with friends. ❤️

10. If I get dementia, ask me to tell you a story from my past.

11. If I get dementia, and I become agitated, take the time to figure out what is bothering me. ❤️

12. If I get dementia, treat me the way that you would want to be treated. ❤️

13. If I get dementia, make sure that there are plenty of snacks for me in the house. Even now if I don’t eat I get angry, and if I have dementia, I may have trouble explaining what I need.❤️

14. If I get dementia, don’t talk about me as if I’m not in the room.👍🏽

15. If I get dementia, don’t feel guilty if you cannot care for me 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It’s not your fault, and you’ve done your best. Find someone who can help you, or choose a great new place for me to live.👍🏽

16. If I get dementia, and I live in a dementia care community, please visit me often.❤️

17. If I get dementia, don’t act frustrated if I mix up names, events, or places. Take a deep breath. It’s not my fault.👍🏽

18. If I get dementia, make sure I always have my favorite music playing within earshot.❤️❤️❤️

19. If I get dementia, and I like to pick up items and carry them around, help me return those items to their original place.👍🏽

20. If I get dementia, know that I still like receiving hugs and plenty of laughing ❤️🥰❤️

21. If I get dementia, remember that I am still the person you know and love.”🌼❤️

Someone once said if you take care of someone with dementia, you lose them more and more every day. When they get the diagnosis, when they go through different stages, when they need treatment, and when they pass away.

This is called "the longest goodbye ". As the brain slowly dies, they change physically and eventually forget who their loved ones are. They could end up lying in bed, not moving and not eating or drinking.

To raise awareness of this cruel disease, I would like my friends to put this on their page today.

Hold your finger on the post to copy and paste to your timeline.

🧠 One of the biggest myths around concussion
is that you have to be knocked unconscious to have it.

The reality is that most people who experience a concussion never lose consciousness at all.

Which means it's surprisingly easy for symptoms to be missed, dismissed or explained away.

"You're probably just tired - rest up and you’ll feel better soon."

"Maybe you're stressed."

"Give it a few more weeks."

And yet people can still be dealing with headaches, dizziness, brain fog, poor sleep and concentration difficulties long after the original injury.

One of the ways you can help in relieving these symptoms, and hopefully get you back on the track to further recovery is CranioSacral Therapy (CST).

We have therapists all over the country (in fact all over the world!) who may be able to help on a one-to-one basis.

And, if you, or someone you love, is struggling with persistent Post Concussion symptoms that have been hard to help - and you’ve tried a whole list of things to little avail - then maybe you’ll be interested in this:

We’re running a rare, intensive CST programme (over 5 days, this November), where we’ll have multiple sessions, over multiple days, with multiple therapists… We’ve already shown that this can help people with these longer term head injury symptoms.

Forward this post or find out all about it here: upledgerprogrammes.org.uk/concussion-programme

This popped into my in box this morning so I thought I'd share. Being post-menopausal and currently on a journey to find the best nutritional path for myself, it caught my eye.
Ari Whitten works with leading experts in many fields and I have purchased a couple of his blue-print courses, one on breathing and one on gut health - both brilliant in my opinion.
This is a free webinar and although he's obviously using it as a way to market his latest course, the webinar itself should be packed with some great tips and information. Click the link below to register. it's on Wednesday.
