WE WERE TAUGHT TO SUPPRESS, NOT PROCESS.

We heard it everywhere. Don’t cry. Calm down.
Stop being sensitive. Put your brave face on.
Get on with it. I’ve even said versions of those things myself before I understood it differently.

Now I’m much more interested in letting the emotion move.

Cry if you need to cry. Talk if you need to talk.
Sit in silence if that’s what you need. Want a hug? Have one.
Don’t want to be touched? Say that.
Need company? Ask. Need space? Take it.

Expression doesn’t mean letting every emotion control what you do. It means you don’t have to pretend it isn’t there.

Because constantly swallowing everything doesn’t make it disappear. It can just turn into tension, stress, resentment and disconnection somewhere else.

Feel it. Name it. Express it. Let it moveee 💛

NOT ALL GROWTH MOVES YOU FORWARD.

Sometimes you’re not growing out of the pattern.

You’re growing inside it.

More thinking.
More analysing.
More understanding.
More explaining.

But somehow… same loop.

That’s why self-awareness matters.

At some point you have to recognise whether the work you’re doing is actually moving you forward or just helping you become more knowledgeable about the same cycle.

And sometimes that’s where support comes in.

Not because somebody else has all the answers.

Because it can be very hard to see the loop clearly when you’re the one standing inside it.

Awareness shows you the pattern. The work is learning how to leave it.

KINDNESS DOESN’T REQUIRE SELF ABANDONMENT

You can be helpful without people pleasing.

The difference is whether you checked in with yourself first.

Do I want to do this?
Do I have the capacity?
Will this put me out?
Am I helping because I genuinely want to… or because I want to be liked, needed, accepted or approved of?

Helping people isn’t the problem. Abandoning yourself to do it is. 💯

IF YOU’VE MOVED ON, WHY ARE THEY STILL YOUR AUDIENCE?

Sometimes moving on is just not speaking anymore.

Because physically they’re gone… but mentally you’re still checking. Emotionally you’re still waiting.

Digitally you’re still leaving breadcrumbs. &half the time they’re not even checking for you 😂

That’s the validation loop 🔁

You don’t necessarily want the relationship back.

Sometimes you just still want evidence that they want you back. & that tiny difference can keep a door open for YEARS.

Moving on isn’t just leaving them alone. It’s no longer needing them to notice that you did.

YOU LEFT THE RELATIONSHIP. NOT THE LOOP.

Sometimes “moving on” is just not speaking anymore.

Because physically they’re gone… but mentally you’re still checking.

Emotionally you’re still waiting.
Digitally you’re still leaving breadcrumbs.

& half the time they’re not even checking for you 😂

That’s the validation loop.

JOY CAN BE PUBLIC. PAIN IS SELECTIVE.

Anybody can be invited into the celebration.

The birthday. The good news.
The achievement. The holiday.
The version of life that’s easy to show people.

Pain is different.

When someone is scared, ashamed, grieving, confused, heartbroken or barely holding themselves together… they don’t usually want an audience.

They choose where they feel safe enough to be seen without performing.

So sometimes being chosen isn’t being invited to the party. It’s being the person they call when there is no party.

No mask. No performance.
No good news to bring.

Just them.

& I think that’s a completely different kind of intimacy.

Who gets the version of you that has nothing to perform?

PEOPLE PLEASING ISNT KINDNESS

I did five kind things for people today.
That doesn’t make me a people pleaser.
The difference is I checked with myself first.

Can I do this? Do I want to?
Do I actually have the capacity?

People pleasing isn’t doing nice things for people.

It’s overriding yourself so somebody else doesn’t feel disappointed, uncomfortable or upset with you.

You don’t have to become cold.
You don’t have to stop caring.
You don’t have to stop helping.

You just stop making yourself the person who always gets sacrificed.

WHO ARE YOU COMING BEFORE JANUARY?

Everybody talks about who they’re going to become in January.

But what if January wasn’t your starting line?

What if you arrived there already clearer.
Already moving differently.
Already making decisions from the version of you you’ve been saying you want to become.

That’s exactly why this retreat is in November.

Not to escape your life for two weeks.

To step away from the noise long enough to properly look at it.

What stays.
What changes.
What needs confronting.
What you’re no longer carrying.
And what needs to be in place before another year begins.

Because January doesn’t magically change anything.

You do.

SOMETIMES HOME PICKS UP THE PHONE.
The safest person in your life isn’t always the person with the answers.

Sometimes they can’t fix a single thing.

But you know you can call them messy, confused, crying, angry or completely lost… and you don’t have to make yourself easier to hold first.

They don’t need to rescue you.

Their presence just makes somewhere inside you feel safe enough to land.

YOUR SAFEST PERSON ISN’T ALWAYS YOUR CLOSEST PERSON.

Sometimes you don’t find out who feels safest when life is good. You find out when something happens and your hand reaches for their name without thinking.
