Only one week to go until workout one of the 2025 CrossFit Open, this is the start of a busy competition season for a lot of the HBHM community.
The CrossFit Open is an intense, multi-week competition that pushes athletes to their limits, so recovery is crucial for maintaining performance and preventing injuries. Here are some key recovery strategies:
Prioritise Sleep
Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep per night.
Establish a consistent bedtime routine to optimise recovery.
Nutrition for Recovery
Stay hydrated: electrolytes help with muscle function and reduce cramping.
Anti-inflammatory foods (salmon, berries, turmeric) can aid in muscle repair.
Active Recovery & Mobility
Light movement on rest days (walking, cycling, swimming) improves blood flow.
Mobility drills, foam rolling, and stretching help prevent stiffness.
Yoga or breathwork can aid in relaxation and recovery.
Cold Therapy & Contrast Showers
Ice baths or cold showers reduce inflammation and soreness.
Contrast therapy (alternating hot & cold) improves circulation.
Listen to Your Body
If overly fatigued or injured, modify workouts or take an extra rest day.
C*D can also be a useful tool for recovery during the CrossFit Open, helping with muscle soreness, inflammation, sleep, and stress management.
See you on the leaderboard.
