And with that, the Very Important Invitation Project has come to an end.

💛 After a wonderful 5 years, VII has sadly reached its final day.

It’s LGBTQ+ history month, come and join us at the amazing Q***r Health Matters event run by Suffolk pride THIS Saturday! 🏳️‍🌈

Nurse Laura and Elle will be there to support and answer any questions when it comes to cervical screening 💛 as well as a load of other important projects and organisations!

It’s World Cancer Day! 💜

🌍 A day that is incredibly close to our hearts here at The Very Important Invitation. A day to raise even more awareness to this global cancer epidemic.

📍Come join us at the World Cancer Day event in Clacton! (see final slide for details)

🫂Nurse Laura will be there to answer all your questions and give you any needed advice and support when it comes to your screening! As well as many other incredibly organisations and projects.

HPV Prevention Week 🦠

📍As we come to the end of cervical cancer awareness month, we end with HPV prevention week!

🦠 HPV stands for Human Papilloma Virus and is a group of viruses with over 200 different sub types. HPV is EXTREMELY common and in most cases our natural immune system will clear the infection.

🤲 It can be passed by ANY type of skin-to-skin sexual contact, no matter the gender of your partner. It estimated that 80% of us will get HPV at some point in our lives.

💉 Even though there is no cure for HPV, the HPV vaccine helps fight against the most common strains of HPV. This is now offered to both male and females in school around the age of 12-13.

Your Screening Results💙

📍 screening results can sometimes feeling daunting and confusing. If you ever unsure or have any concerns do not hesitate to get in contact with your health care provider to put your mind at ease!

📲 If there is no HPV detected, your results will go straight onto the NHS app. If you do not read these results, this is when a letter will be sent to your address!

📩 if HPV was detected (with or without cell change) you will receive a letter within 2-4 weeks.

📞 if you haven’t heard anything after 6 weeks- get in contact with your GP surgery for clarification!

It’s Cervical Cancer Prevention Week! 💙

📍A cervical screening is one of the best preventative measures you can take to help reduce the chance of developing Cervical Cancer!

✉️ you’ll receive your first invite 6 months before your 25th birthday. From this you can call your your own surgery to arrange an appointment OR get in contact with us through the link in our bio!

📆 Before your appointment you can ask the nurse for any reasonable adjustments that will help your screening be as comfortable as possible (we have many examples of these throughout our socials)

🕦 your appointment will take approximately 20 minutes with 5 of these being when the sample is taken. This then gives your time before and after to ask any questions to your nurse.

Throughout this month we will be covering the screening, results, HPV, and debunking the myths around cervical cancer and the screening process💛
