Looking to become a Counsellor? We have now published our new course dates for the coming term...

The Banbury Counselling Academy was founded in 2011 to provide affordable gold standard counselling training in Oxfordshire, to meet a desperate need for high quality counsellors and psychotherapists, given the decline in mental health resource in the local community. Since then we have grown into a stable and flourishing organisation with 160 students, graduating 30 counsellors a year.

Our team of tutors specialises in delivering face to face counselling training to small groups, of generally no more than 12 students. We offer Counselling Skills and Studies on site at various levels to suit all requirements. We are approved by the Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB).

This 5-day CPD programme introduces qualified counsellors to the theory and practice of therapeutic group facilitation, equipping participants with the knowledge, skills and ethical awareness required to design and facilitate therapy groups safely.

Group-work is increasingly recognised as a powerful medium for therapeutic change, yet few counsellor training programmes offer structured opportunities to learn group facilitation. This CPD fills that gap by equipping experienced counsellors with the knowledge, skills and confidence to design and facilitate therapy groups.

We couldn't agree more Prime Minister...

We couldn’t agree with him more.

We welcome the new Prime Minister and urge him to make mental health a priority.

This is what his Labour government must do to tackle “the issue of our times”:

1) Provide same-day open access to mental health:

Too many people are left waiting while their mental health gets worse. We are calling for same-day access to mental health support, so people can get help when they need it, not weeks or months later.

2) Make the online world and AI safer for mental health:

We want the UK government to work with us to build on the work we’ve started through our AI Commission, Mental Health in the Age of AI.

3) Listen carefully to mental health experts (like us!) and those with lived experience of mental health problems:

We’re ready to work with the new Prime Minister to make sure everyone can get safe, effective mental health support that's right for them, when they need it.
