2nd session of hill sprints this week😅
I haven’t run in ages and never have done consistently; I have always preferred weight training to cardiovascular training BUT I do try to incorporate 1-2 short interval training sessions in my week.
AND the sun has made a couple of appearances this week so swapped the spin saddle for the country lane 🍃🏃🏻♀️
If like me you’re in the 40+bracket -well, 50+😁really in my case- aim to include 1-2 weekly sessions of 20-30 sec sprints (running, cycling, rowing etc) with 2-4min recovery, start with 4 then build up to 8, in between your strength training sessions to maintain/improve your metabolic rate & cardiovascular fitness
Running outdoors, especially in nature, also boosts your mood & vitamin D levels + impact supports healthy bone density especially in spine, hips and legs.
I have also found that Short bursts of running in particular cause less niggles/pain/injuries because there’s less repetitive strain on the body
