✨August 2026 Newborn Slings Workshop & Sling Meet✨

🕍Stirling - St Ninians Old Parish Church Halls - Friday 14th August

This is a FREE session where you can try on different styles of slings/baby carriers and find the one that works for you - and you can hire it if you want to take it home to try it! We can also check the fit of your own carrier for a £5 donation. Our sling meets are open to everyone - expecting families, new families, and families with newborns, toddlers and/or preschoolers! We almost certainly have a sling for you 🫶

Sadly our Falkirk meet is off for this month as our lovely consultant prepares to give birth in September. We're still finalising what September and October will look like for the sling library but will keep you posted 🙏

🏔 NEW CARRIER ALERT 🏔

Thanks to a generous donation from a member of our community, we have acquired a framed hiking carrier for our library!

The LittleLife Adventurer S2 is suitable from 6 months (baby is confidently sitting unaided) until a maximum of 20kg. Despite being a framed carrier, it is incredibly lightweight at only 1.9kg. Featuring an adjustable belt and backlength for the wearer, this model suits both small and large frames, something that not all framed carriers offer. There are also several adjustments points for the child to give a comfortable and secure fit.

Want to get your bestie into babywearing? Absolutely!

Want to gift them the same sling that worked for you? Well ... maybe not ...

Carriers are a bit like jeans: what suits one person may not suit another, and often times you have to try it on to see if it works for you.

Presenting: the sling library voucher! Tell your friend to come to the sling library, either before or after baby is born (or both!) and give them the gift of getting to find the sling that works for them! Vouchers can be exchanged for hiring slings for:

£15 for 2 weeks
£25 for 4 weeks OR
£25 for 3 months for stretchy wraps and pre-tied stretchies

❓Did you know ... you can babywear from birth? And that you can practice while you're expecting? ❓

We recommend coming along to our FREE Newborn Slings Workshop both before and after baby is born. Coming before baby is due lets you try on various styles of slings and carriers before you are sleep-deprived and in the newborn haze; and coming afterwards is useful once you have your baby and you either want a fit check with the sling you purchased, or you want to try the options on again but this time with a real baby instead of a doll.

Our workshop mainly covers stretchy wraps (including the free Scottish Baby Box wrap), pre-tied stretchies and newborn-suitable buckle carriers (as not all are truly suitable from birth despite what a company says), but feel free to ask us about ring slings, wovens, meh dais - we love talking about slings!

SAFETY PSA - HIGH, TIGHT, IN SIGHT ALWAYS!

If your carrying looks like the the picture on the left (which was kindly shared with permission):
- bring baby up so that their head is on the hard part of your chest away from the squishy bits;
- fold down any fabric so that it comes no high than the back of baby's neck and their head is free;
- and tighten the straps so that baby is secure to you and you can fit a single flat hand between your chests but not a fist

This brings baby High, Tight, and In Sight for a safe, secure and comfortable carry for everyone. The photo on the left is NOT SAFE - baby is low, loose, and their head is covered.

This post is not to shame anyone (especially since the instructions for this carrier tell you to use it like on the left) - it's to support and educate you so that you can carrying safely and comfortably.
