Most of us have had RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) without even knowing it, to younger people, it’s just a winter cold. But as we get older, RSV can quickly turn into a severe chest infection or pneumonia.

Every winter, RSV puts thousands of older adults into NHS hospital beds. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗶𝘁.

If you are aged 75 to 79, you are eligible for the RSV vaccine. It’s a simple jab that protects your lungs and keeps you out of hospital.

Due to a national issue affecting the triage system, we have temporarily suspended online access to submit triage requests.

🔴 Heat-Health Alert Escalated to Red

The UK Health Security Agency has escalated the Heat-Health Alert to Red for the Midlands and much of southern England until 25 June.

This is the highest level of alert and has only been issued once before, during the extreme heat experienced in 2022.

A Red Heat-Health Alert indicates a risk to life, even for healthy people, and can also affect transport, water supplies and other essential services.

Please remember to:

💧 Drink plenty of fluids
🏠 Keep your home as cool as possible
☀️ Avoid the hottest part of the day where you can
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Check in on older relatives, neighbours and anyone who may need extra support
