Merlewood, a handsome Victorian house, is situated on 23 acres of grounds in Virginia Water, overlooking the Surrey Hills. Our home offers outstanding levels of service and care in stylish and comfortable spaces that provide a warm welcome for all. We provide both residential and nursing care on a long-term or short stay basis, as well as offering end of life care.

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that bring the most pleasure. Yesterday our residents took a trip to the local pub for an afternoon drink and chat.

A visit to the pub wouldn’t be complete without a little reminiscing about favourite local pubs and memories from years gone by. A lovely afternoon was had by all and we’re already looking forward to our next outing.

Last week, our residents enjoyed creating some beautiful sea glass artwork, transforming colourful pieces of sea glass into stunning, one-of-a-kind masterpieces.

Activities like this are about so much more than creating something beautiful. Carefully selecting and placing each piece of sea glass helps to improve fine motor skills and dexterity, encourages hand-eye coordination, and provides gentle cognitive stimulation through planning colours, patterns and designs.

On Saturday, we were delighted to welcome over 60 residents, family members and friends for a wonderful afternoon filled with laughter, music and great company.

A huge thank you to the talented , who kept everyone entertained with a fantastic selection of classics, including hits from ABBA, Kool & The Gang, and Nat King Cole. There was plenty of singing along, smiling and even a little dancing!

Our catering team outdid themselves with a delicious summer spread, including freshly made quiches, smoked salmon, sandwiches, colourful salads, and an irresistible selection of desserts featuring trifle, scones and a variety of homemade cakes.

We were also honoured to welcome the Mayor, who took the time to chat with residents, families and staff, making the afternoon even more special. Meanwhile, those feeling competitive enjoyed a selection of traditional lawn games in the sunshine.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day such a memorable occasion. Events like these are a wonderful reminder of the importance of bringing people together, creating lasting memories, and celebrating our amazing Merlewood community. We can't wait for the next one!
