Come and learn Pilates Reformer & Tower with us. We have just scheduled our next 4 week Introductory course and it starts Thurs 17th Sept at 6.15pm and runs for 4 consecutive weeks.

These courses are for complete beginners and are suitable for those with or without experience of Mat Pilates. We build a foundational practice that you can build upon in regular classes after the course.

Max 4 people per course so it’s a small and intimate affair rather than a large group class.

You will see some small tweaks to our timetable in September. We will be adding a couple of mixed apparatus classes to our timetable on a Tuesday at 6pm and a Thursday at 1230.

We will also be introducing some advanced workshops and new beginners courses. Dates launched later this week.

Those of you that attend our sessions regularly know that we often run sessions as mixed apparatus in our regular Reformer/Tower classes as we like to give you variety and share more of the Pilates system with you. We thought it was time that we started to formalise this a little on our timetable.

It will give those of you that love working on the full apparatus more of an opportunity to do this. It’s usually a very bespoke session, structured to the individual abilities in the room, you work on which exercises that are appropriate for you on the various pieces of equipment and progress your practice from there. It’s a semi-private session with 3/4 others.

If you have a regular Pilates Reformer practice but have never experienced the wider equipment then this would be a great time to expand your knowledge and practice and experience how it all links together. As we say very often these days…there is so much more to Pilates than just Reformer!

These sessions are also beginner friendly. The apparatus is there to support you as well as challenge you so please don’t be put off by its rather scary looking appearance! ✨⭐️

Yes to all of this 🙌

The popularity of the Reformer has introduced many people to Pilates, which I think is wonderful.

At the same time, it has created some confusion about what makes Pilates, Pilates.

In my view, simply using a Reformer does not automatically mean that the work reflects the Pilates method.

The method is defined not only by the equipment, but also by:
- the purpose of the exercises
- the way they are organized
- how one exercise prepares you for the next
- the progression from simpler skills to more complex ones
- the movement skills the teacher is helping the client develop.

One aspect that is not often talked about is that Pilates was designed to teach people how to move better—not simply how to exercise.

The exercises are the vehicle.

The goal is to develop movement skills such as strength, mobility, coordination, balance, and body awareness that carry over into everyday life.

The Reformer is an important part of the system, but it is not the system itself.

Our cat is missing. If you live in low Ackworth Station Rd area (near local shop) could you please check your outbuilding in case our beautiful boy has wandered in this weekend & got stuck? He is a tad nosey! He does like to roam but hasn’t returned home since going out early Sunday morning. He is very friendly with humans.

Hi, due to the high temperatures expected tomorrow we have decided to cancel the 0915 pilates class at the community room on Bell Lane. The room gets super hot & it has been a challenge when temperatures reach the 35 degree level. See you all next week. Enjoy the week off!

Ran our first summer 90 minute workshop last night. Was actually 97 minutes as there is just so much to fit in! I will attempt to hone my timings better. On this workshop you will get to experience the Tower using the push through bar, the rolldown bar, arm & legs springs AND you will get to have a little play on the Pilates Reformer! You will be shown the basic set up of it all & how the equipment can be used to suit YOU, rather than being in a generic large class. 2 spaces left for Thurs 25th June at 1800-1937 🙌🏽

Our last workshop sold out within a couple of days and we had a waitlist so we only have 2 spaces left for this one now.
It’s a foundational introductory workshop on the Pilates Reformer & Tower in our studio in Ackworth.
If you have been thinking about trying the Reformer but feel a bit nervous about going into a regular class then this would be a perfect introduction. Our studio is fully equipped so you get to experience more of the Pilates method as opposed to just Reformer. All of our classes incorporate the Tower as well the Reformer and we often incorporate the Chair, Cadillac and Barrels too.
Our classes are bespoke as opposed to generic, a more semi-private experience rather than a large group class.

Our brand new 90 minute Intro to Pilates Reformer & Tower Beginner workshop is now available to book for the 11th June at 6-7.30pm.

Only 4 spaces available so more of it’s more of a semi-private experience rather than a large group class.

In this workshop we will introduce you to the Pilates Reformer and also its lesser known companion the Pilates Tower. You will learn how to set up and use the apparatus safely, what does what essentially and how to get the most out of your sessions. We will introduce you to some of the basic principles and foundation exercises in the Pilates repertoire so you can then take that knowledge into regular classes. It’s a perfect grounding to give you the confidence to join us in our small group sessions.

You will feel leaving much more connected with your body, more flexible, mobile, strong and hopefully with a desire to learn more.

We are a fully equipped small village studio that specialises in helping people to move well and feel good in their own bodies. We have been teaching Pilates as a system for over 17 years and are experienced with working with people with a variety of health conditions. If you are considering booking the workshop and you do have a health concern or injury then please reach out to us in advance before booking so we can assess wether the workshop would be suitable (a 1:1 may be more appropriate)
