The dura mater is the outermost layer of the meninges, that help to protect the brain and spinal cord.

As fascia that is continuous with nerves that leave the central nervous system, in a way, it also has threads throughout the body, making it an important structure to understand when studying CranioSacral Therapy.

By ensuring there is mobility and (albeit tiny amounts of) glide in this important layer of fascia, CST supports the whole nervous system which can help many different health issues in a way other modalities don’t always reach.

Understanding anatomy isn't just about learning names - it's about appreciating how different structures relate to one another, and how we can work with them.

THE RECIPE

Some of you have requested the recipe for the sunscreen I made:

80g Shea Butter
40g Organic Coconut Oil
40ml Raspberry Seed Oil
40g Non Nano Zinc Oxide
10 drops of Frankincense (Boswellia carteri)
15 drops of Lavender (Lavendula angustifolia)
15 drops of Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens)

* Melt the shea butter and coconut oil together in a bain marie. Remove from the heat and leave to sit for 2-3 minutes.

* Add the raspberry seed oil and mix well. (You could use Jojoba or organic olive oil or aloe vera instead of the raspberry seed oil.)

* Add the non nano zinc oxide and mix very well. You will need a very small metal hand whisk for this - the type you use for cake frosting.

* Add the pure therapeutic grade essential oils and mix well.

* Put in a glass jar, cover the lid and place in the fridge for one hour.

* Remove the jar from the fridge and whisk well with the small hand whisk. Your cream is now ready to use and does not have to be stored in the fridge.

Takes minutes to make once you have the ingredients and has a lovely luxuriant feel on the skin. Enjoy!💗

Finally! I know that it is late in the summer, but over the weekend I got around to making my own sunscreen cream. Many of the sunscreens available can be full of nasty chemicals which are hormone disruptors and some of the companies involved in their manufacture are corporate bodies involved in less than palatable worldwide activities. All of this really does matter to me. So, after some research, I came up with the perfect prescription and it is absolutely luxuriant on the skin (hubby loves it too!). We used it yesterday and it did the job better than other creams we had been using. I used Shea Butter, Organic Coconut Oil, Raspberry Seed Oil (you could use Jojoba), non nano zinc oxide powder (important as a UV protector), Lavender, Geranium and Frankincense essential oils. It is important to use non nano Zinc Oxide mineral powder as it doesn't cross the skin barrier. It also protects coral reefs (if you are lucky enough to be swimming near one!).
