I’ve recently seen a few clients experiencing gall bladder issues — some managing pain while waiting for treatment or operations, and others looking for gentle ways to support themselves during uncomfortable flare-ups.
A few years ago, I attended training with a Korean practitioner who introduced us to Abdominal Acupuncture: The Sacred Turtle, a traditional technique based around the area of the belly button.
I’ve used this approach a few times, both on myself and with others. It came to mind recently when a client was experiencing uncomfortable abdominal pain. She was open to trying it, so I used gentle acupressure rather than needles around the area.
The client reported that the discomfort eased almost straight away. When she returned for her next monthly appointment, she shared that she had only experienced slight twinges since — nothing like the pain she had felt before.
It’s always fascinating to see how ancient techniques can still feel so relevant today. While medical treatment is, of course, essential where needed, approaches like acupressure can sometimes offer gentle support alongside conventional care.
It’s a beautiful reminder that the body has an incredible capacity to respond, rebalance and support its own healing.
