You are the greatest project you will ever work on.

Some days you’ll feel like you’re making progress.

Other days, you’ll feel like you’re back at square one.

Restart. Reset. Refocus.

As many times as you need. Just don’t give up on yourself because every version of you is worth fighting for.

A powerful metaphor ⛵️ ⛵️ ⛵️

As a therapist, I often use metaphors. I love them 💗

Why?

Because a metaphor can explain in seconds what facts alone may take a lomg time to understand.

Anxiety isn't always "anxiety"—sometimes it's like a smoke alarm that's become too sensitive.

Grief isn't something you "get over"—it's learning to carry a heavy backpack differently over time.

Self-criticism isn't motivation—it's trying to grow a garden while constantly digging up the seeds to check if they're growing.

Metaphors help people see themselves with more clarity, compassion, and understanding.

Sometimes healing begins when we can finally relate to what we're experiencing.

That's the power of a well-chosen metaphor.

People often feel so frustrated about this... and I hear them, I understand them, I get it.

After a relationship has come to an end, well, why cant I move on already after so much time?

But some relationships leave a mark on your heart that doesn't simply disappear when they're over. You can understand why it ended, accept that it's no longer part of your life, and still find yourself missing that person. Healing isn't always about forgetting—sometimes it's about learning how to carry the memories without letting them hold you back.

There are days when you feel strong and confident about moving forward, and there are days when a song, a place, or a simple memory brings everything rushing back. That's part of the process. Letting go doesn't mean the relationship wasn't meaningful. It means choosing your own peace, growth, and future, even when it's difficult.

Be patient with yourself. Growth rarely happens in a straight line. Every step forward matters.

Keep moving, keep healing, and trust that brighter days are ahead. 💙

There comes a point where protecting your peace becomes more important than pleasing others.

Boundaries are not selfish.
Walking away is not weakness.
Choosing yourself is not cruelty.

Love yourself enough
to know when enough is enough.

Blessings to you.

A journey of healing ✨️

As a CBT therapist, I often talk about how gratitude can support mental health — but recently I’ve had to lean on it myself. After a complex surgery, flu, and a leg injury all close together, it’s been a tough time.

What’s helped isn’t toxic positivity or pretending things are fine. It’s gratitude, alongside focusing on what I can have, do, and control rather than what I can’t.

Leaning on my support network has also been so important. My husband has been fantastic, and every small and big gesture from family and friends has meant more than they probably realise.

I’ve been trying to focus on the things within my control: protecting my wellbeing, making choices that nourish my mind rather than hinder it, thinking about the future while only focusing on what feels feasible and realistic right now, and allowing my body to rest and pace with compassion.

I’m also learning to focus on the activities I can still do, while gently holding the frustration and sadness around the things I currently can’t — and accepting that it’s okay to have those feelings too.

If you’re going through a difficult season right now, you are not alone. Small shifts in focus can make a real difference, even in hard moments. It's how we navigate this journey.

Today we managed a walk in the sunshine and it was glorious 😊 we are close to recovery 🙏

Happy 10-year anniversary to my little business.

It was a hard journey to begin with, but worth every moment. It all started 11 years ago while studying, juggling a placement and raising a toddler at home. I studied into the early hours, determined to succeed and determined to be there for the school runs in the future.

After graduating, I worked long days in a veteran inpatient unit, then evenings in Harborne, building my experience and reputation in private practice. I don’t know how I found the energy, but I did — and I’m proud of the work I put in. And I was able to be there for those school runs. For everyone who supported me along the way, thank you.

Ten years on, working for myself alongside a fantastic team means everything. I’m deeply grateful to the NHS for my training and experience. Now, in my own practice, I can support people without targets, without “shoulds” and “musts,” and connect deeply with the wonderful humans I work with, at their own pace.

I love my work — it feels like much more than a job; it’s part of who I am. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting people through many different mental health challenges and have grown in the areas I specialise in. My veteran work was a deeply meaningful chapter, and currently it is a privilege to support police officers across the UK — from fi****ms and family liaison to response and other specialist units.

I feel grateful to have found a balance that works for my clients, our team, and for myself. But the most rewarding part of all is seeing people feel like themselves again — or discover a new version of themselves. That makes everything worthwhile, because every human being deserves inner peace.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. Here’s to 10 years of The Clinic — and to what comes next.
