☀️ Don't forget your lips when applying SPF!
Your lips are one of the most commonly forgotten areas when it comes to sun protection, but they can still be damaged by harmful UV rays.
👄 Using a lip balm with SPF 30 or higher can help protect against sun damage and may reduce the risk of developing cancers of the lip. Remember to reapply regularly, especially after eating, drinking, or swimming.
💙 Other ways to help reduce your risk of oral cancer:
✔️ Don't smoke or use to***co products.
✔️ Limit alcohol intake, as heavy alcohol use increases risk.
✔️ Protect your lips and face from the sun by wearing a wide-brimmed hat and using sunscreen.
✔️ Eat a healthy diet rich in fruit and vegetables.
✔️ Be aware of changes in your mouth, such as ulcers that don't heal within 3 weeks, red or white patches, lumps, or persistent pain, and get them checked by a healthcare professional.
✔️ Attend regular dental check-ups, where your dentist can screen for signs of oral cancer as part of your examination.
Early detection saves lives. If you notice anything unusual in your mouth that persists, don't ignore it—book an appointment with your dentist or GP.
💋 Protect your smile today, and remember: SPF isn't just for your skin—your lips need it too!
