Today, 8th August, marks the energetic peak of the Lion's Gate Portal — a time associated with Sirius, heightened spiritual awareness, courage and transformation.
This year's 8:8 carries an additional symbolism. 2026 is a Universal 1 Year, marking the beginning of a new nine-year cycle and bringing themes of fresh beginnings, vision, conscious creation and stepping forwards with renewed purpose.
For the Ancient Egyptians, Sirius — Sopdet — heralded the annual flooding of the Nile and became a powerful symbol of renewal, abundance and divine guidance.
Perhaps this Lion's Gate isn't about seeking something outside ourselves at all.

🌌 The Eve of the Egyptian Epagomenal Days 🌌

Today marks the eve of one of the most sacred periods in the ancient Egyptian calendar – the Epagomenal Days, often called the 'Days Out of Time'.

These five mystical days exist outside the ordinary calendar and celebrate the births of the five great Neteru: Ausar (Osiris), Heru-Ur (Horus the Elder), Set, Aset (Isis) and Nebt-Het (Nephthys). They invite us to pause between endings and beginnings, reflecting on what is ready to be released before stepping into a new cycle with greater clarity and purpose.

This year brings a particularly meaningful alignment, as the Holly Thunder Lúnasa Full Moon falls during the Epagomenal Days, offering a powerful opportunity to illuminate old patterns, strengthen healthy boundaries and transform challenge into wisdom.

🌹 22nd July – Mary Magdalene Day 🌹

Within the Reyad Sekh Em® tradition, Mary Magdalene is honoured not only as one of history's most significant spiritual women, but also as a figure whose life may preserve echoes of the ancient Egyptian Mystery Schools.

Many esoteric traditions suggest that Mary Magdalene possessed knowledge of sacred healing and spiritual initiation. Some researchers have proposed that her roots lay within a Khemitian (Ancient Egyptian) priestly tradition, later interwoven with the House of Solomon. Whilst this remains outside mainstream historical consensus, it offers a fascinating perspective on the continuity of ancient wisdom through the early Christian era.

The title Magdalene may itself carry deeper symbolic meaning than simply referring to the town of Magdala. Some interpret it as "The Tower"—representing spiritual strength, initiation and illumination.

In the Gospel accounts, Mary Magdalene is the first witness to the risen Christ and is entrusted with carrying the Resurrection message. She is also described as a woman of independent means who supported Jesus' ministry. In later mystical traditions, including those associated with the Knights Templar, she came to be revered as Our Lady of God (Damedieu), embodying the sacred feminine counterpart to Christ's mission.

Whether viewed through history, mysticism or the lens of the ancient Mystery traditions, Mary Magdalene continues to inspire us to seek truth, embrace healing and remember the Divine within.
