Repeat Prescriptions
How does our repeat prescription process work?
Different types of medication/drugs that can be on a repeat script are shown on our website.
Some are straightforward and need relatively little clinical monitoring, others may need regular reviews and tests.
Please visit :
https://waltonmedicalcentre-essex.nhs.uk/prescriptions/

This will tell you why we may need regular testing and reviews before medication is issued.
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to put a query through anima or contact the prescription team.

Primary Care Support England are currently sending out letters to registered patients asking to confirm your registration details. We believe this is to patients that have not been seen in the surgery for a number of months.
They are asking if your address is correct and then the completed form has to be sent back in the pre paid envelope.
If you do not respond they are removing patients from the practice list so it is very important if you receive this letter that you reply.
If you have any queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact the surgery.

New MenB vaccination programme for eligible young people
A new NHS vaccination programme is offering protection against meningococcal B (MenB) disease to eligible young people across England.
The vaccine is being offered as a one-off programme to help protect those at highest risk before they start university or residential higher education in autumn 2026.
MenB disease is rare but can be very serious. It can cause meningitis and blood poisoning (septicaemia), which can lead to life-changing disabilities or death.
You may be eligible if you:
• Are currently in Year 13 (born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008).
• Are under 25 and starting university for the first time in autumn 2026.
• Are under 25 and starting residential further education for the first time in autumn 2026.
All eligible Year 13 students can receive the vaccine, regardless of whether they plan to go to university or college.
You need two doses of the MenB vaccine for the best protection.
• The first dose will be offered from July 2026.
• The second dose should be given at least four weeks later.
• Both doses are needed to help protect against MenB disease.
You do not need to wait for an invitation from the NHS before booking your MenB vaccinations.
Book your appointment via:
The national booking service:
https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/vaccination-and-booking-services/book-a-menb-vaccination-appointment
We cannot give or book your vaccine here at the GP Surgery

AI-assisted consultation notes at Walton Medical Centre.

Some of our clinicians are now using secure AI-assisted tools to help prepare consultation notes.
The tool listens during the appointment and produces a draft summary for the clinician. This allows the clinician to focus more fully on the patient rather than spending as much time typing.
The clinician remains responsible for the consultation and will review and correct the draft before anything is added to the medical record. The tool does not diagnose conditions, make clinical decisions or replace the clinician.
Your clinician will tell you before using the tool. Please let them know if you would prefer it not to be used. Declining will not affect your care in any way.
Further information is available in our practice privacy notice.

IMPORTANT PATIENT NOTICE
BUILDING IMPROVEMENTS AT WALTON MEDICAL CENTRE
On Saturday 1st August 2026 we will be starting improvement work at the surgery.
We are creating two additional clinical rooms within part of the current waiting room. This will provide more clinical space and help us offer additional appointments and services. The patient waiting area will move into the enlarged main entrance hall, and our reception area will also be refurbished.
During the building work, there may be some noise and disruption. Patient parking and seating in the waiting area will also be limited.
Please arrive as close as possible to your appointment time and, where possible, no more than 10 minutes early. If you need a seat, assistance or any other reasonable adjustment, please let us know. We will make suitable arrangements wherever possible.
Contacting the surgery
While our reception space is limited, please use Anima wherever possible to send medical and administrative requests:
https://anima.thirdparty.nhs.uk/o/co148pawal
You do not need to create an account. Anima is available from 8:00 am to 6:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
You can use Anima for:
• Appointment requests
• Medical queries
• Test result enquiries
• Prescription queries
• Administrative requests
If you cannot use Anima, do not have internet access or need help submitting a request, please telephone us on 01255 674373 or speak to our reception team. You will still be able to contact the surgery in the usual ways.
If our telephone lines are busy, you can select the callback option. This will keep your place in the queue, and the system will call you when you reach the front, so you do not need to remain on hold.
Saturday appointments
If you are attending a Saturday appointment, please use the side entrance located on the right-hand side of the building.
Please park only in the patient car park and keep the area immediately to the right of the building clear.
We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding while we improve our facilities.
