Last Week we enjoyed a lovely trip out to Nunney Castle with some of our residents. The sunshine was shining, the castle looked stunning, and everyone enjoyed taking in the beautiful surroundings and local history.

Trips like these are so important, giving residents the opportunity to get out into the community, enjoy a change of scenery, share memories, and spend quality time together. There were plenty of smiles, good conversations, and refreshments enjoyed along the way.

A wonderful afternoon making new memories together! 🏰☀️💙

Shopping and Lunch Trip in the Community

When we are able, we like to support residents to get out into the local community for a shopping trip and, where possible, enjoy some lunch while we are out and about.

These trips give residents the opportunity to choose and purchase some of their own personal items, helping them to maintain their independence and make their own choices.

It is also a lovely opportunity to spend time together outside of the home, enjoy a change of scenery, and remain connected with the local community. Most importantly, residents can decide what they would like to buy and, when possible, where they would like to stop for lunch, making the experience personal and enjoyable for them.

Yesterday we welcomed our lovely residents to our monthly Vicar service. 🙏⛪

The service included readings, prayers and hymns, followed this month by Holy Communion for those residents who wished to take part.

For many of our residents, these services are a very special and meaningful part of their month — a chance for reflection, faith, comfort and coming together as a community. ❤️

A beautiful and peaceful service enjoyed by all who joined us. 🌷🙏

Nothing beats a trip to the seaside! 🌊☀️

A couple of our residents enjoyed a lovely day out in Lyme Regis, complete with delicious scampi, fresh sea air, and plenty of smiles. It's wonderful to get out and make special memories together. 💙

Over the last few weeks we've been celebrating quite a few birthdays for both our wonderful residents and our amazing staff! 🎉🎂

Our residents certainly know how to celebrate in style, with a delicious birthday cake, lots of cards and best wishes, and where possible, even a special trip out to make their day extra memorable.

Happy Birthday to everyone who has celebrated recently. We hope you've all had a fantastic day filled with smiles, laughter, and wonderful memories! 🥳🎈💙

Getting out into the local community for a drink or two can make a world of difference to our residents.

It's a wonderful opportunity to relax, chat, reminisce about old times and create new memories together.

On this occasion, one of our residents had a fantastic time enjoying the outing and the friendly conversation. Afterwards, she smiled and said, "I've had a wonderful time creating lovely memories... but now it's time for a nap!" ❤️

It's often the simple moments that bring the biggest smiles.

Our Activities Coordinators don't just think about our residents while they're at work!

While visiting a local car boot sale, our wonderful Activities Coordinator, Grace, spotted a sensory mat and immediately thought of one of our residents who would benefit from it.

The sensory mat is already being used and thoroughly enjoyed, providing comfort, stimulation and meaningful engagement.

A big well done to Grace for always going the extra mile and thinking about the little things that can make such a big difference to our residents' lives. 💙

Person-centred shopping trips are an important part of supporting our residents to maintain their independence and achieve their personal goals.

A recent example was accompanying one of our residents on a shopping trip for some essential items while also supporting her wish to explore mobility solutions that would help her enjoy more outings with both the Activities Team and her family.
We visited a mobility specialist Life and Mobility Solutions Ltd to look at scooters and other equipment that could make everyday life easier.

We're delighted to say that she chose her new mobility scooter and is absolutely thrilled with her purchase, and celebrated with a chocolate éclair.

This will open up so many new opportunities and help her continue enjoying trips out with greater confidence and independence.

A huge well done to Glynn and Grace from the Activities Team for helping to make this happen. 💙

Sometimes the simplest activities bring the biggest smiles. 🎨

Colouring is enjoyable at any age—not just for our residents! It gives everyone the chance to relax, chat together, and enjoy each other's company. Add a little music in the background, and it creates a calm, happy atmosphere for all. 💜

At the heart of what we do is person-centred care. ❤️

One-to-one activities are just one of the ways we support our residents.

By taking the time to get to know each individual—their interests, hobbies and what brings them joy—we can tailor experiences that are meaningful to them.

Whether someone prefers a quiet one-to-one outing or enjoys being part of a group, we always listen and do our very best to make those wishes a reality.

One recent example was a trip to the National Motorbike Weekend at Castle Combe. Our resident had a wonderful time taking in the sights, sounds and smells of the event, admiring the fantastic bikes and watching them go around the track. Seeing the smiles and hearing the memories it brought back made the day truly special.

It's these personalised moments that make all the difference. 💙
