I Do Not Know

I used to reach for answers
like they were handles
on a world that could be held—
tight-fisted, named, explained.

I said: this is life.
This is suffering.
This is the way it goes.
And life—
quiet, patient—
undid me.

Not all at once,
but in the slow
language of loss,
in the spaces
where certainty
could not survive.

What I knew
fell from me
In pieces—
like leaves that
finally understand

they were never
meant to stay.
And still,
something remained.

Not knowledge.
Not control.
But a softer way
of seeing.
A listening.
A willingness
to stand
at the edge
of everything
and say:

I do not know—
and that is where
life begins.
Because the river
does not ask
where it is going.

The sky does not cling
to yesterday’s light.
And we—
fragile, fleeting,
unfinished—
are not here to
conclude the story,
but to be carried
through it.

So I loosen my grip
on answers that
once felt like safety.
I bow to the mystery
I cannot outthink.

Life goes on—
not because
I understand it,
but because I don’t.

And in that unknowing,
I am finally open
enough
to live.

Get to the woods🌳

Did you know our eyes can distinguish more shades of green than any other colour? It’s likely something we’ve carried with us from when our ancestors lived and moved through woodland landscapes, where reading foliage meant food, shelter, and survival.

Most of you will already know this, but spending time in green environments has measurable benefits. Studies show that green spaces can lower stress levels, regulate mood, and support overall emotional wellbeing. Exposure to nature has been linked to improved concentration and cognitive function, particularly in children with ADHD. Patients recovering from surgery often heal faster and require less pain relief when they have a view of trees or natural scenery.

Even simply looking at greenery can ease eye strain and mental fatigue. And of course, green spaces encourage movement, walking woodland paths, steady miles under the trees, breathing properly again. We are wired for woodland. Reconnect with the grounding calm of the outdoors.

A very special tree we visited in Normandy, France, this oak has the town named after it and is held up by supports for it's sprawling branches. The steps lead to a chapel inside the upper section. The tree is believed to be 1,200 years old.
