🥵 All jokes aside… if you’re pregnant during this hot weather, please take extra care. 🤰☀️

Pregnancy naturally raises your body temperature, making you more prone to overheating and dehydration during a heatwave.

Here are a few simple ways to stay safe:

💧 Keep sipping water throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty.

❄️ Stay in the shade or indoors during the hottest part of the day (usually between 11am and 3pm).

👕 Wear loose, lightweight clothing made from breathable fabrics.

🧊 Cool yourself down with a fan, cool showers, or a damp flannel on your neck and wrists.

🚶‍♀️ Slow down if you need to. Growing a baby is hard work—it’s perfectly okay to take things easy.

🍉 Choose water-rich snacks like watermelon, strawberries, cucumber and oranges to help keep you hydrated.

⚠️ If you feel dizzy, faint, develop a severe headache, have painful contractions, notice reduced movements later in pregnancy, or you’re worried about anything at all, contact your midwife or maternity unit for advice.

⭐️📣One of the most common questions we get asked is …

“When should I book my 4D scan?”

Our favourite time is between 28 and 32 weeks. 💕

By this stage of pregnancy your baby has usually started to develop those gorgeous little fat pads on their face, giving them those adorable chubby cheeks that make 4D images look so special.

This is also when you often start to notice who your baby resembles. 🥹

👶 28–32 weeks is the sweet spot because:

* 💕 Chubby cheeks are starting to appear
* 👃 Facial features are much more defined
* 🥰 You can often see smiles, yawns and little expressions
* 👨‍👩‍👧 Family often start saying, “They look just like Mum!” or “They’ve got Dad’s nose!”

Every baby is different, of course. Factors such as baby’s position, the placenta, your BMI and the amount of amniotic fluid can all affect the images we capture.

If you’re hoping for those beautiful close-up face pictures, 28–32 weeks gives us the best chance.

💕 No heartbeat at 6 weeks? Please don’t panic just yet.

This is one of the most common concerns we see in our clinic.

Many parents come expecting to see a heartbeat, but pregnancy dating isn’t always exact. A later ovulation or implantation can mean you’re simply earlier than expected.

In many healthy pregnancies, a follow-up scan 7–14 days later shows the development everyone was hoping to see.

Every pregnancy is unique, and an early scan is just a snapshot of one moment in your baby’s journey.

If you’re feeling anxious, remember that not seeing everything you expected doesn’t automatically mean something is wrong. Always seek advice from your healthcare professional if you have concerns.
