A key focus of play and creative arts therapy is the connection between child or young person and the therapist.

In the therapy room children and young people are accepted, heard and seen. Through the therapeutic relationship they can feel safe enough to explore their challenges, learn to regulate their emotions, and develop resilience and inner confidence.

💚 It's National Non-Speaking / Non-Verbal Awareness Day 💚

Today we recognise and celebrate the many children and young people who are non-speaking or non-verbal.

Being non-verbal does not mean having nothing to say, it means finding different ways to communicate. From gestures and facial expressions to AAC devices, sign language, or other tools, every form of communication is valid and powerful.

At Contact, we know how important it is for families to have access to the right support and resources so that every child’s voice can be heard. Today we stand alongside non-speaking children, young people and their families, raising awareness and championing inclusion 💚

A good reminder while SATS have begun, and GCSEs and A Levels are on the horizon, that mental health is more important than exam results.
