It’s Loneliness Awareness Week

Loneliness doesn’t always mean being alone — it can be the feeling of being disconnected or unsupported, even when around others. It can impact both our emotional and physical wellbeing, and it’s something many people experience at different times in life.

This week we’re encouraging everyone to reach out, connect, and take small steps toward feeling more supported.

Ideas to connect:

• Say hello to a neighbour

• Catch up with a friend or family member

• Join a local group or activity

• Talk to someone you trust about how you’re feeling

Support is available

If you’d like to find local help and activities to improve wellbeing and reduce feelings of loneliness, visit Living Well Warrington — a free service that connects you to people, communities and services in Warrington: https://livingwellwarrington.org/

Our Social Prescribing Link Worker may also be able to help connect you with local groups, activities and support within the community. If you would like to arrange an appointment with Jenny, please contact the surgery as you normally would.

Diabetes Awareness Week

Every two minutes someone finds out that they have Type 2 diabetes, a potentially serious health condition that can cause long-term health problems such as sight loss, kidney failure, and can make you at least twice as likely to have a heart attack or stroke.

Common symptoms can include feeling very thirsty, needing to pass urine more often (especially at night), feeling very tired, unexplained weight loss, or blurred vision.

It’s important that you find out if you are at high risk of Type 2 diabetes so you can get support to lower your risk. The Diabetes UK risk tool can help you find out if you’re at risk of developing the condition. It takes just a few minutes and could be the most important thing you do today. Click here to get started Check Your Risk | | Healthier You | Diabetes Prevention

If you’re concerned about symptoms or your risk, please contact the surgery to arrange a review – we’re here to help.
