I sang at a book club ๐ณ ๐๐๐
Yup I keep getting the message to share my voice. I don't think that means singing it just means stop hiding, suppressing or diluting what I have to say or want to say.
So I've been trying to do more of it and when the lovely Hannah Strange hosted her bookclub at Womanifest reading from her fabulous book "Sacred Rebellion", something made me thing of the don "Savage Daughter" and I asked if anyone knew it and would it be ok to share. Now it's not a song or message to meekly sing, it needs full commitment so I belted it out! And then i couldn't stop shaking but it was also very freeing.
I'd spent the last couple of years in my job trying to be heard, speaking up for myself and not being believed, expressing my struggles to have them held against me and I started to feel what is the point.
Now the struggle is speaking without fear of judgement, but I am using my voice more and more (I mean written word too) but I sometimes wonder does anyone hear, is it helping, do I keep sharing?
I know that is this same wounding from not being heard coming up but when I am using my voice now it is with a much higher purpose, one that is deeply important to me and it's this that helps me trust in sharing my voice whether that be to comfort, to inspire, to support, to uplift or to empower.
In a public forum people are not always going to feel comfortable to comment and add their own thoughts, experiences etc so I just want to say if you do want to use your voice my inbox is always open.
Before the event yesterday I pulled a card and low and behold look what it was "Share your voice". Well of course I was planning to as I was doing a session and yet again I had the same feedback - how my poetry resonated, how it gave pause for reflection, how when I changed the sounds for each Chakra the vibrations moved through their body.
I have ample evidence that sharing my voice has impact, and others then feel free to share their voice - yet I still question it!
But I will keep sharing, and each time I do it feels more freeing and more natural. I encourage you to free your voice in whatever way brings you joy ๐
