Tomorrow 5th February we say a final farewell to Michael Budgie Byrne who passed last month in a residential care home in Whitnash Leamington Spa Community

Michael worked for many years as a Bookies Clerk at Spa Turf Tachbrook Road, also a part time bar man at the Green Man and the George pub in High street.

He was widowed in 1998 by the death of his wife Irene and then the loss of his son Paul in 2018

As he is reunited with his family funds were not available in consideration of removing the family stone and kerbside at the grave yard. This is something we have taken up to assist with the support of the Community.

We just want Michael to have the ending his family deserves to lay him to rest and reunite them all as one,

Sadly one of our clients have passed away, not only a client but a long life friend for many decades.

Michael Budgie Byrne passed in a residential care Facility on the 9th January 2026.

Michael was a big support to us and in later years we looked after his welfare until it was not feasible to continue due to his health needs,

Michael was ill from last June and under intense NHS health care until his passing last week,

He has a family plot to be laid to rest in, along side his wife and Son. However he did not have funding for the Funeral Directors to open up the grave, preserve the kerb stone surround and relay it in the future months,

This will cost over £2,000 which we at Warwick Proud will fund raise for until we reach that target figure, We do not have essential community funding to be able to do this,

Hydromol Cream Pump edition Required for home use on our Elderly. The cream is the high performance Cream rather than the ointment in the tubs which has a limited effect.

We have to purchase this for clients as many GP surgeries only supply one on a prescription.

If you have any sealed bottles left over from previous use, we would appreciate them saving us funding of at least £18 each with P+P

Due to an emergency road closure on Lower avenue, Leamington we will be unable to serve the rail station and Morrisons going into town on any service. We will also be unable to serve Parish Church into town for 1's and 67's.

Updates over Christmas from Warwick Proud Welfare Care

We shall be working Christmas Day from 07.00am
making essential welfare calls to the elderly and vulnerable

We shall check on rough sleepers in door ways when other agencies are not working.

We are going to be recipients of a group of creators on who have made a christmas song to downstream which we will receive a proportion of the songs revenue in the new year

We will advise and assist with issues relating to the winter fuel payments during January.

Utility costs will rise by 1.2% In january along with an option of fixed cap rates

Bus Fare Travel will also increase On January 1st to a new rate of £3.00 a single journey with no concessions on this. to explain

If you take a bus from say Stratford to Coventry Live the cost will be £3.00 with no return tickets so a return journey effectively costs you £6.00

If you board at say Square to the hospital the fare will be the same £3.00 each way. an OAP & Disability Pass will still allow you to board for free travel from 06.00am until your 66th Birthday

Oaps over 66 cannot board a bus without payment until after 09.00

We are fund raising all year to continue with operational costs that are needed in the region of £8000.00

We have a Store voucher appeal ongoing, where gift cards are welcome for food shopping.

Our Annual Lunch will take place in January at Bistrot Pierre Leamington Spa Community for the third year running.
