In healthcare, creating opportunities to learn from one another and build connections beyond our day-to-day roles is essential.

Alliance Medical Radiopharmacy recently brought together managers from across the business for our North and South Managers' Workshops. Over two days, managers took part in collaborative discussions, leadership training and wellbeing-focused sessions, exploring practical ways to support both their own development and the wellbeing of their teams.

As Radiopharmacy and our teams continue to expand, these workshops give our managers the chance to share insights, exchange ideas and learn from one another to ensure we provide the best possible care for our teams and patients.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the workshops and helped make them such a success.

Something new is taking shape in Portsmouth: an NHS Trust site is being redeveloped into a Community Diagnostic Centre that will expand access to vital diagnostic services.

The partnership between Alliance Medical and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust will see the existing NHS building at Rodney Road transformed into a modern diagnostic hub, designed to help patients receive quicker access to tests, closer to home and outside of the acute hospital setting.

The Portsmouth CDC will be fully open by October 2026, providing MRI, CT, X-ray and Ultrasound services, alongside a range of additional services delivered by the Trust, including phlebotomy, cardiology, neurophysiology, lung function and audiology.

Together, we’re demonstrating what can be achieved when the NHS and independent sector work together with a shared goal: increasing diagnostic capacity, improving access to vital diagnostic services and supporting earlier diagnosis.

We were delighted to welcome representatives from the Independent Healthcare Providers Network (IHPN) to our Sheffield PET-CT Centre on Wednesday.

During the visit, Seema Kennedy OBE, Chair of the IHPN, and Katie Thomas, Communications Manager, met with Alliance Medical colleagues to learn more about the services we deliver for patients across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw.

The visit highlighted how our partnership with Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust helps provide access to specialist diagnostic services, as well as the vital role molecular imaging plays across cancer, cardiac and neurology pathways.

Barney Schofield, Chief Commercial and Operating Officer (North) at Alliance Medical, said:

"We were pleased to welcome Seema and Katie to Sheffield and share first-hand the important role independent sector-delivered diagnostic pathways play in supporting the NHS. "

Thank you to Seema and Katie for taking the time to visit.

Getting muddy for a good cause 🧡

Keele Radiopharmacy recently took part in Cancer Research UK's Pretty Muddy race, raising £400 to support vital cancer research.

Andy Ramsden, Dennis Cooper, Atticus Bettany and Aleksandra Chmielecka swapped their workwear for running shoes for a day of teamwork and plenty of mud!

We’re so proud of the dedication that our colleagues bring, not only to their roles every day but also to causes that matter to them personally.

A huge well done to everyone involved, and thank you to all those who donated and supported the team.

A huge congratulations to Dr Ferdouz Ramazan, our Unit Manager for North Tees, Hartlepool and Wythenshawe, on achieving her PhD from the University of Sunderland! 🎓

Ferdouz's doctoral research, "Situated Professional Learning Communities in Radiography: A Proposed Learning Framework for Bridging the Theory–Practice Gap", explored how radiographers can learn collaboratively, share knowledge more effectively and strengthen evidence-based practice across the profession.

Her research led to the development of the Situated Professional Learning Communities (SPLCs) model, a framework designed specifically for radiography to support continuous professional development, encourage knowledge exchange and help bridge the gap between theory and day-to-day clinical practice.

Reflecting on her achievement, Ferdouz said:

"Achieving my PhD represents a journey of resilience, growth, and purpose, transforming curiosity into meaningful contributions within the field of radiography. I am grateful for the support and encouragement received along the way and look forward to the continued pursuit of contribution, discovery, and excellence."

Congratulations Ferdouz on this incredible achievement and we look forward to seeing the impact of your work in the years ahead at Alliance Medical 👏

A huge congratulations to 12 of our Apprentice Radiographers on graduating from the University of Cumbria after completing their Radiography Degree Apprenticeship! 🎉

Claire Eckersley, Strategic Workforce Partnerships Manager at Alliance Medical said:

‘’What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that every one of these graduates began their journey on our Assistant Practitioner apprenticeship programme before progressing onto the Radiography Degree Apprenticeship. From apprentices to HCPC-registered radiographers - they’re now joining Alliance Medical’s MRI, CT and PET-CT teams as Graduate Radiographers, strengthening the diagnostic workforce of the future. We couldn’t be more proud of them’’

A special congratulations goes to Kes Sinfield-Newman, who received the Institute of Health Prize for Excellence in Undergraduate Research and Innovation in recognition of her outstanding achievements and contribution to research.

We would also like to thank our managers, mentors, clinical supervisors and the University of Cumbria for their continued support and commitment to developing the next generation of diagnostic professionals.

We're incredibly proud of every graduate and look forward to seeing the impact they will make.

It's not every day a football stadium becomes home to an MRI service!

This week, our team worked alongside Colchester United Football Club to go live with a new mobile MRI scanner at the JobServe Community Stadium, helping improve access to vital diagnostic imaging for patients across Colchester and surrounding areas.

For the past two years, we've been a trusted partner to Colchester United - supporting players with access to MRI services. Now, that partnership is helping benefit the wider community too.

Located at the stadium, this new service offers patients convenient access, excellent parking and easy transport links, while helping reduce pressure on local hospital facilities.

By working closely with East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust and the Club, we're creating additional diagnostic capacity where it's needed most.

A huge thank you to the team at Colchester United, whose support and commitment have helped make this possible.

Together, we're making it easier for patients to access the diagnostic services they need, closer to home.

University of Cumbria is ranked No.1 in the Northwest for graduate outcomes 👏

And we’re proud to be their real-world partner – developing the UK’s future Imaging workforce together.

One of the biggest challenges facing healthcare today is ensuring we have the skilled workforce needed to meet growing demand for Diagnostic Imaging services.

Through our long-standing partnership, we've created an innovative and accessible apprenticeship pathway that support progression from Healthcare Assistant to Assistant Practitioner and onward to qualified Radiographer.

Cumbria Uni has recently been ranked No.1 (Northwest) and in the UK's top five universities for graduate outcomes, with 97.5% of graduates progressing into employment or further study.

That’s evidence of the value that strong partnerships between education and industry can deliver.

Resourcing the future needs more than simple recruitment.

Our ‘Growing Our Own’ approach is all about helping talented individuals build rewarding careers while supporting the future sustainability of diagnostic services and delivering high-quality patient care.

Congratulations to everyone at the University of Cumbria on this well-deserved recognition.

From Portugal to Portsmouth - and back again 🇵🇹

Two years ago, we met Gonçalo at a careers fair at Escola Superior de Tecnologia da Saúde de Coimbra.

He was a final-year radiography student wondering what came next for his career.

Today, he's an MRI Radiographer at our brand-new Portsmouth CDC

And recently, he walked back through those same University doors to tell the next generation of graduates what's possible.

As the largest employer of radiographers outside the NHS, we recruit across Europe because great talent doesn't stop at borders.

Our graduate programme gives newly qualified radiographers the clinical framework, mentorship and progression to build a successful career.
