🎯💙 Out & About with Bluebird Care! 💙🎯

Our latest Out & About adventure certainly hit the target! 🎯

We recently enjoyed a fun-filled trip to Adventure Sports in Wedgnock, where our customers had the opportunity to try their hand at pistol and air rifle target shooting!

It was a fantastic experience, full of concentration, encouragement, plenty of smiles and, of course, a little friendly competition! 😄

One particularly special moment was seeing one of our customers, who has significant sight loss, being supported to take part in the activity. With a little teamwork and encouragement from his Care Expert and the wonderful staff at Adventure Sports, he was able to get involved, enjoy the experience and have a brilliant time. 💙

For us, that's exactly what our Out & About activities are all about – finding ways to make experiences accessible and enjoyable for everyone, focusing on what people can do and creating opportunities to try something different.

A huge thank you to the team at Adventure Sports for helping make the day such a success! 👏

💙 Introducing Our Dementia Champions 💙

We’re incredibly proud to introduce our newly appointed Dementia Champions at Bluebird Care Stratford & Warwick.

For us, becoming a Dementia Champion goes far beyond completing a standard awareness course. It’s about developing the deeper knowledge, confidence and practical skills needed to understand the person behind the diagnosis and provide truly individualised care at home.

Our Dementia Champions have completed enhanced specialist training exploring how dementia can affect the brain, memory, language, vision and communication. They’ve also developed practical approaches to reducing distress, supporting independence and creating meaningful days for the people we care for.

This is part of a much bigger journey for our team.

Over several years, Bluebird Care Stratford & Warwick has worked alongside researchers at Queen Mary University of London, contributing our experience of providing dementia care in people’s own homes to research and co-production.

This has included helping to co-produce dementia training specifically designed for the home-care workforce – recognising that supporting someone with dementia in their own home brings unique opportunities, relationships and challenges.

Now, our Dementia Champions are helping us turn that learning into everyday practice here in Warwickshire. 💙

They’ll support colleagues, share knowledge, encourage reflection and help us continually develop our approach to dementia care – from adapting communication and understanding distress to maintaining independence, creating meaningful moments and helping people continue doing the things that matter most to them.

Because excellent dementia care isn’t simply about knowing someone’s diagnosis.

It’s about knowing the person.

We’re incredibly excited to see our Dementia Champions take this next step and the positive difference they’ll make for our team, our customers and their families.

🎥💙 Working Together to Improve Dementia Care Across the UK 💙🎥

We're proud to share that Bluebird Care Stratford & Warwick recently welcomed Queen Mary University of London to film some of our face-to-face dementia training as part of our continued co-production in the GRACE Study.

The footage will be used as a benchmark example of high-quality, face-to-face training for home care professionals supporting people living with dementia.

This is an exciting step towards a shared goal: ensuring that high-quality dementia training and support becomes standardised, mandated, and accessible across the UK for all home care workers, as well as for the families and loved ones of people living with dementia.

We know that great dementia care starts with knowledge, understanding, and compassion. We're honoured to contribute to research that has the potential to improve the quality and consistency of dementia support for thousands of people and their families.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in the filming and to our partners at Queen Mary University of London for their dedication to advancing dementia care.

💙 Care & Community Connections – Bringing People Together 💙

We're delighted to have launched Care & Community Connections, a new monthly support group from Bluebird Care Stratford & Warwick, in partnership with Oakley Grange Care Home.

This free monthly group has been created to offer information, reassurance, and a welcoming community for anyone supporting a loved one, whether you're a family member or an unpaid carer. Caring for someone can be rewarding, but it can also feel overwhelming at times, and we want to provide a space where people can connect, share experiences, and access helpful advice.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our first session and helped make it such a positive start.

Our next Care & Community Connections session takes place in July and will be dementia-themed, with practical information, support and advice for anyone affected by dementia. We'll be sharing more details very soon, so watch this space!
