💚 THIS ONE IS ABOUT SO MUCH MORE THAN A FOOD CHALLENGE… 💚

Tomorrow, 1st September, our next challenge begins.

We’ve called it…

THE BEAST.

We’re not telling you what’s in it. 👀
We’re not revealing everything just yet.

Because this time, what’s on the plate really isn’t the important part.

It’s why we’re doing it. ❤️

Throughout September, we’re raising money for Rowans Hospice to help towards something called a cuddle bed.

Imagine being told that the person you love is reaching the end of their life.

Imagine knowing that the number of times you’ll get to say “I love you” is running out.

You don’t want anything extravagant.

You don’t want presents.

You’d give absolutely anything just to climb into bed beside them…

Put your arms around them.

Hold them.

Feel them next to you.

Maybe talk about the life you’ve shared.
Maybe laugh about old memories.
Maybe cry together.

Or perhaps say absolutely nothing at all…

Just have one more cuddle. ❤️

That’s what a cuddle bed can give a family.

It gives a husband the chance to lie beside his wife.

A wife the chance to hold her husband.

A parent, child, partner or loved one the chance to be right there beside the person who means everything to them when time together has become more precious than anything money could ever buy.

Because when that final goodbye eventually comes…

Nobody is going to wish they’d had more things.

They are going to wish they’d had more time.

One more conversation.

One more kiss.

One more cuddle. ❤️

And if a load of people eating something ridiculous at our little cafe can help another family have that moment…

then every mouthful will be worth it.

So yes, there will be competition.
There will be laughs.
There will be winners and prizes.

Kids can take part for £10 and adults for £20, with different sizes so the whole family can get involved.

And, as always, the fastest times will take the glory. 🏆

But this September, the biggest win won’t be a trophy or a fastest time.

It will be helping Rowans Hospice give another family the chance to hold the person they love.

We need our first brave person to step forward and become BEAST #001.

As our Ecommerce Coordinator, you’ll have a great eye for spotting donated items with online potential, researching their value and creating engaging listings across platforms including eBay and Vinted.

Meet Lisa, one of our incredible supporters taking part in the Shining Stars Walk ⭐

Lisa has taken part every year since we launched the walk in 2024, walking in memory of her best friend, Jemma.

“My soul sister, literally the best friend a girl could ask for. Full of fun, and never a day without laughter. Always there for one another through the good times and the tougher ones too. She was just the best!”

Our Cowplain Craft Shop has re-opened with a fresh look!

Come visit us for all your craft supplies, including beads, yarn, tools and now with a brand-new fabric section.

We would like to say a massive thank you to all our incredible volunteers that helped with the shop re-fit, we couldn’t have done it without all their hard work 💚

Thank You Thursday 🫶

This week, we would like to say a huge thank you to Portsmouth North Rotary Club for their annual golf day!

We recently met with David and Adrian who organised the fantastic day and helped to raise an incredible £4,000 for Rowans Hospice. This was their 26th annual Charity Golf Day, and they have since raised over £350,000 for various charities across the area.

From everyone at Rowans, thank you so much for your continued support and the wonderful amount raised. 💚

Here at Rowans Hospice, we know only too well the challenges facing our sector. The cost of providing specialist hospice care continues to rise, while demand for our services remains high.

Every single day, we need to raise £23,700 through the generosity of our local community to help us continue providing our care and support to people living with life-limiting illnesses, and to their families and loved ones.

We are incredibly grateful for everything our community already does for Rowans. But we cannot take that support for granted. Your continued generosity is vital if we are to keep our services available for local people today and into the future.
