As parents, we often shield our children excessively due to our own worries, fearing potential harm if they take on new challenges. However, by denying them these opportunities, we hinder their future ability to tackle obstacles. While we shouldn't expose them to danger, we mustn't shy away from situations within their capabilities. Parental anxiety may lead us to compare our children to others, causing unnecessary stress. Each child develops uniquely, so instead of fixating on shortcomings, let's nurture their individual strengths.
Comparing children and obsessing over milestones differences only fuels parental anxiety. It's unfair and counterproductive. Trusting your child's unique journey is key. Overcoming parental anxiety requires gradual steps. Start by identifying genuine concerns and challenging yourself to let go of unnecessary worries. Trust your instincts but push boundaries gradually. Reflecting on the origin of anxieties is important. Some may stem from inherited tendencies or observed parenting styles. Recognizing and addressing these inherited anxieties is crucial to break the cycle and become the parent you aspire to be.
