Alma Hospital Trust

Alma Hospital Trust Our Alma Bi Hospital is an amazing place that delivers free medical services in a disadvantaged, remote, rural area in Hafizabad, Pakistan.

The Alma Bi Hospital operates in District Hafizabad, Pakistan. It's an amazing place that treats thousands of poor people each year for free. It owes its existence to Mohammed Younis (MBE), Watford postman and a remarkable individual who spent ten years campaigning to raise the £1million it cost to build. It's now a unique haven of western medicine amidst rural poverty, serving a population of aro

und 150,000 people. The hospital is funded entirely by charitable donations, mostly through The Alma Hospital Trust in the UK. It's eschewed government or corporate support in order to ensure its integrity and high standards of operation. But these ethics clearly come at a cost and there's a constant struggle to raise enough money to keep the hospital going.

Yesterday, family, friends, hospital staff, patients and members of the local community gathered at Alma Bi Hospital in Pakistan to remember my father on the first anniversary of his passing.

Looking through the photographs from yesterday, I felt an enormous sense of gratitude.

A year after his death, people are still gathering in his name. Children offered prayers. Families came together. The hospital was full of life. Full of people. Full of the very thing he worked so hard to create.

My father, Mohammed Younis MBE, spent more than a decade raising money alongside friends, family and supporters to build Alma Bi Hospital in rural Pakistan. Named after his mother, Alma Bi, the hospital opened in 2007 and continues to provide free healthcare to thousands of people every year.

What moved me most yesterday was the reminder that his work didn’t end with him.

The hospital continues.

The patients continue to arrive.

The staff continue to serve.

And lives continue to be changed every single day.
I miss him deeply, but yesterday I felt something else too.

Pride.

Pride in the life he lived. Pride in what he built. And pride that the work continues.

May Allah grant him the highest place in Jannah
