Hospice care isn't just about the end of life. 💜
It's about providing extraordinary care, emotional support and helping people get the best out of every day.
But that care doesn't happen on its own.
It takes staff, volunteers and supporters working together to ensure hospice care is there for everyone both now, and in the future.

“I feel more like a human being at home. I hated being in hospital. I was like a different person - all gloomy or miserable. But now I’m at home, I feel happy all the time. I can’t thank the Rennie Grove Peace team enough.

Gloria is 82 and has been blind since birth due to retinitis pigmentosa. Shortly after her discharge from hospital in December 2025, the Rennie Grove Peace team began supporting her at home.

Gloria and her daughter, Julie, share how this care has made a difference to their lives: https://renniegrovepeace.org/our-care-and-support/our-stories/glorias-story/

“We wanted to raise funds for the hospice to show our gratitude for all the care and support Janet received at home free of charge.”

This year, Derek and his family will be taking part in the Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge for the sixth time, raising money in memory of his beloved wife, Janet, who was cared for by our Hospice at Home team.

“We liked the idea of taking part in a challenge that would bring everyone together in her memory and we chose the Chilterns 3 Peaks Challenge. It was a fun day out, if a little exhausting, but people made generous donations via the tribute page. We have since participated in the walk every year and many friends and family have continued to make donations - hopefully, the donations will continue.”

This painting is inspired by a deeply personal experience that shaped local artist, Annette O'Donnell's life and artistic journey. Her latest painting is currently displayed in our Living Well Centre in Watford, where it offers a space for reflection, comfort, and hope.

"There was a time in my own life when I experienced the fragility of being human. During my recovery, at a moment when hope felt almost out of reach, I experienced what I can only describe as a profound angelic presence. It brought a deep sense of peace, unconditional love and gratitude for life itself."

Her paintings are born from that experience and are created with the hope that they might offer comfort and reassurance to others.

"If they can bring even a single moment of comfort, hope or quiet reassurance
to someone facing life's most tender chapters, or to the family and friends
walking beside them, then they have fulfilled their purpose. It is my
heartfelt wish that everyone who pauses before these paintings feels,
in their own way, that they are never truly alone."

Thank you Angel Art by Annette 💙

💜 Our Pulmonary Fibrosis Support Group enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of music and relaxation, with a special live performance from Josh, a doctor on our Inpatient Unit in Watford.
We also experienced a calming sound bath, creating a peaceful space to unwind and connect. 🎶

If you’re living with pulmonary fibrosis, this group is here to offer support, share practical tips, and explore ways to help you live well with the condition.

We understand that pulmonary fibrosis can sometimes feel isolating, so this is your chance to connect with others who truly understand. You can chat and share experiences, in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Last week, we were delighted to welcome Matt Turmaine, MP for Watford, and representatives from Flutter UK&I, to Peace Hospice in Watford.

Flutter UK&I’s Cash4Clubs grant award of £2,000 has enabled us to provide yoga and other exercise and wellbeing sessions to people of all ages affected by progressive, life limiting illnesses, and it was a wonderful opportunity to showcase the incredible difference this has made.

Our Chief Executive, Tom O’Connor, said:

“Exercise and movement can make a real difference to people living with a serious illness, helping them stay active, manage symptoms and maintain their independence for longer. It’s a great example of how hospice care means helping people live well with illness, from diagnosis onwards, not just supporting them at the end of life.

“We were delighted to share more with Matt Turmaine MP about the breadth of our work. Visits like this are invaluable because they demonstrate the impact hospice care has on local communities, and why adequate government funding is so vital, to ensure everyone who needs hospice care can access it when they need to.”

Too many people in our community may be missing out on the support available to them because of outdated ideas about hospice care.

Last year, our independent survey found that 81% of people across Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire held inaccurate beliefs about what hospice care is and who it is for.

At Rennie Grove Peace, we're here to help people live well with illness, providing free hospice care and support tailored to individual needs, wherever they call home.

By challenging common misconceptions, we hope more people will feel confident accessing the care and support they deserve.
