Yesterday afternoon our Managing Director, Adam K Ginder attended both the Open Air Service at West Herts Crematorium and Evensong and Licensing Service at St Peter's Church, St Albans.

The Annual Open Air Service held in the Crematorium gardens at Garston, is an opportunity for families to attend a memorial service to remember all those whose funerals have been held there. Adam’s own father, and our late Founder, Martyn Ginder was cremated at West Herts, a place he knew so well serving other families for 30+ years.

The Special Evensong service saw the licensing of a new Associate Priest at the Church. Rev. Charlotte Bradley was welcomed into her new role. Rev. Charlotte grew up in Abbots Langley and trained at St Albans Cathedral so knows the area well. She will serve the parish of St. Peters and the community of St. Albans and we look forward to working with her.

Supporting our local community and being part of the congregation at both these events, helps us to ensure we are part of these communities.

Today in the the United States of America, it is their Independence Day.

This year they celebrate the 250th Anniversary of their Independence. We want to wish all our friends and colleagues in the United States a very happy Fourth of July!

As a funeral directors we are always looking for developments, improvements and education opportunities to better serve our families. To help us do this, we look beyond the United Kingdom and have for many years looked to our colleagues "across the pond" for innovation and opportunity.

Today is National Bereaved Parents Day

The day honours parents who have lost a baby or child of any age. It aims to raise awareness and bring the bereaved parent community together to show they are not alone.

The 2026 theme is "This is my place". This theme focuses on finding a sense of belonging and community within grief. It encourages people to share physical or emotional places that hold special memories of their child.

Lighting a candle at 7pm this evening is a sign of your support for bereaved parents and remembrance of those children who have gone too soon.

Happy St. Alban's Day!

St. Alban was Britain's first Saint. He took in a priest, Amphibalus, who was escaping the Romans and hid him. When caught by the Romans, Alban was tried and then beheaded on top of a hill in Verulamium during the 4th Century.

The story of St. Alban is depicted in the city each year, by a pilgrimage through the streets and an adaptation of the story portrayed by teams from local schools and St Albans Cathedral with large statues and depictions of the events that occurred.

Having served the City of St. Albans, the wider district and surrounding villages since 1983, we are happy to celebrate St. Alban's Day.
