Sometimes the best way to care for others is to first care for yourself. 💚

This week, I'm taking some time away from my counselling practice to rest, recharge, and prioritise my own wellbeing.

As counsellors, we spend our days holding space for others, listening deeply, and supporting people through life's challenges. But we're human too, and self-care isn't a luxury—it's an essential part of being able to show up fully for those we support.

Taking this break is a reminder that it's okay to pause, set boundaries, and refill your own cup without guilt.

To all my clients and colleagues, thank you for your understanding and continued support. I'll be back next week feeling refreshed and ready to continue this important work.

In the meantime, I hope you're finding moments to care for yourself too. Remember: you can't pour from an empty cup. 💚

Counselling appointments available in Exeter this February.

I am now counting down the days to the first afternoon at my new therapy room at The Good Life Centre on the outskirts of Exeter next Wednesday afternoon, where I currently have a couple of appointment slots available.

I offer a warm, supportive, confidential space where you can talk openly and feel truly heard, without judgement. You may be coming to therapy with a specific concern, or you may simply feel overwhelmed or unsure why things feel difficult right now.

As an integrative counsellor and EMDR therapist, I tailor my approach to your individual needs, working at your pace and drawing on a range of therapeutic methods. My experience includes supporting clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement and loss, ADHD, low self-esteem, panic, relationship difficulties, life transitions, gender and other emotional challenges.

My aim is to help you feel supported, understood and empowered as you move towards greater clarity, healing and change. If this feels right for you, we can arrange an initial conversation to explore how we might work together.

I offer specialist support for individuals struggling with eating disorders or disordered eating, providing a safe and compassionate space to explore your relationship with food, body image and self-worth. I understand how complex and deeply rooted these difficulties can be and how scary it can be to think about making changes. I tailor therapy to your individual needs, supporting you to develop greater understanding, self-compassion and a healthier, more balanced relationship with food and yourself.

I provide a safe, calm and non-judgemental space for couples to explore the difficulties they are experiencing within their relationship. You will be supported to share your thoughts and feelings openly, while feeling heard and respected.

Together, we will work towards gaining clarity about what you both want from your relationship, improving communication, and developing a deeper understanding of each other’s needs. Therapy offers an opportunity to reconnect, address unhelpful patterns, and move forward with greater awareness and compassion.

I am an approved provider for private health insurance companies, including BUPA, WPA, Mind Right, Healix and Healthcare RM.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day when we think not only of those people who are having suicidal thoughts, but also those who have sadly been bereaved by su***de.

To add to the numbers below, if you are in Somerset you can also contact Mind in Somerset Mindline which is available 24 hours a day.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day 💚

It takes place on 10 September every year and it’s a chance for all of us, across the world, to raise awareness of su***de and su***de prevention.

This year’s theme is 'suicidal thoughts can be interrupted'. If you think someone might be suicidal, take action. Interrupt their thoughts and show them you care.

Often, people experiencing suicidal thoughts feel isolated, unheard, or misunderstood. A simple, genuine conversation can be powerful.

Listening without judgment, without rushing to offer solutions, allows someone to feel seen.

If you’re struggling, please remember you're not alone.

If you can, please reach out to your GP, family and friends. You can contact the Samaritans 24 hours a day on their free phone number 116 123. Check the comments for links to support available in North Somerset.
