Do you ever catch yourself watching other people and thinkingā¦
āThere is no way in this world that I could stand up and speak in front of an audienceā
āI could never ask them out on a date⦠Iād be completely mortified.ā
āI wish I had the confidence to go for that promotion.ā
āIād love to compete, Iām just not that confident.ā
āI admire people who put themselves out there⦠I just couldnāt be one of them.ā
And before you know it, that quiet thought settles inā¦āThatās just not meā. So you stay in observer mode. Watching others step forward, take risks, put themselves out there and grow. Whilst your confidence dwindles.
The truth is confidence isnāt something weāre born with⦠we either have it or we donāt. No, we build it.
Behind most confident people is a long list of moments where they felt nervous, uncomfortable, doubtful ā they just did it anyway (often with a wobble!).
Anyone can become more confident. Yes it requires getting a bit uncomfortable, but you can do it in manageable steps,
not huge leaps and forcing yourself to ājust be braveā.
And even better, with the right mental preparation, those overwhelming feelings will soften. What once felt terrifying will start to feel⦠doable.... And maybe even a little exciting!
This is an area I genuinely love supporting clients with.
Whether itās confidence around public speaking, getting yourself out there on social media, interviews, dating, competing, or doing something youāve avoided for years.
And for some people, it isnāt confidence at all ā
itās a fear or phobia thatās been quietly running the show in the background.
So if thereās something you keep thinkingā¦
āI wish I could ā but I canāt.ā
Maybe the question isnāt why them?
Maybe itāsā¦Why NOT you? š
I'm a fully certified therapist, coach and hypnotherapist based in Wells (who used to be absolutely TERRIFIED of public speaking... !)
