☀️ Caring for Older People During Hot Weather ☀️

Hot weather can be particularly challenging for older people, so a little extra care and attention can make a big difference. 💙

At Visiting Angels, our caregivers can help clients stay comfortable and safe at home during warmer weather.

💧 Encourage regular drinks to help maintain hydration
🏡 Keep rooms as cool and well-ventilated as possible
👕 Choose lightweight, comfortable clothing
🌞 Avoid unnecessary time outside during the hottest part of the day
🧴 Use appropriate sun protection when going outdoors
🥗 Offer light, refreshing meals and snacks
📞 Check in regularly, especially with anyone living alone
❤️ Be alert to changes such as unusual tiredness, dizziness, confusion or weakness

Our goal is to help older people continue to feel safe, comfortable and supported in their own homes, whatever the weather.

Welcome to the Team, Kymberly ❤️✨

We are delighted to welcome Kymberly as a new recruit to the team.

As part of Kymberly’s induction, Registered Manager Amber Fairbrass will provide induction training and support to help Kymberly settle confidently into her new role.

The induction will include an introduction to the organisation, key policies and procedures, roles and responsibilities, expected standards of practice, safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality, and the support available within the team.

We wish Kymberly every success in her new role and look forward to supporting her as she begins her journey with us.

🌞🌑 SOLAR ECLIPSE SAFETY! 🌑🌞

A solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, blocking some or all of the Sun from view. During a total eclipse, the Moon can completely cover the Sun and reveal its beautiful outer atmosphere, called the corona.

If you're planning to watch, remember: protect your eyes! 👀

☀️ Use proper eclipse glasses that meet the ISO 12312-2 international safety standard.
🕶️ Regular sunglasses are NOT safe, no matter how dark they are.
🔍 Check eclipse glasses before using them. If they're scratched, torn, punctured, or damaged, don't use them.
📷 Never look at the Sun through an unfiltered camera, binoculars, or telescope. These devices require proper solar filters attached to the front.
👧👦 Make sure children are supervised while viewing the eclipse.
📦 No eclipse glasses? An indirect viewing method, such as a pinhole projector, is another way to enjoy the event safely.

✨ Remember: During a partial eclipse, you must keep proper solar eye protection on whenever you look directly at the Sun.

What a fantastic day at the Hatfield Community Fair! 🌟

It was wonderful to have a stall at this fantastic community event and meet so many local residents, families, and organisations. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat with us, learn more about Visiting Angels, and find out how we can support people to live safely and independently at home.

The fair was a great opportunity to connect with local charities and community groups, all sharing valuable information and showcasing the incredible support available across Welwyn Hatfield.

One of the highlights of the day was our raffle to win a bottle of champagne! 🍾 Congratulations to Ewelina from Hatfield, who was our lucky winner. We hope you enjoy your prize!

Another special highlight was meeting The Mayor of Welwyn Hatfield, Councillor Michal Siewniak. It was a pleasure to see such strong support for our local community and the organisations that make a difference every day.

A big thank you to everyone who visited our stall and helped make the event such a success. We look forward to seeing you again at future community events! 💙
