The College of Optometrists has launched a public consultation on the next edition of its Guidance for Professional Practice (GfPP), and we want to hear from you.

GfPP supports safe, effective, and patient-centred eye care across the UK, helping to guide professional practice and decision-making.

This edition includes some of the most significant proposed updates in recent years, with new sections and substantial revisions designed to reflect the realities of modern eye care practice.

Whether you're an optometrist, practice owner, eye care professional, patient, or member of the public, your feedback will help shape the next edition of the guidance.

The consultation is open until 3 August 2026 ➡️ https://coptom.uk/4uQvcmU

It’s an easy thing to overlook when you’re busy updating your range, but could leave you exposed if you need to make a claim.

Our affinity partner, Lloyd & Whyte, offers specialist practice insurance for optometrists, with cover designed to reflect seasonal changes in stock levels.

Hear from Elizabeth Kime MCOptom, Dr Peter Bloomfield and Mike Bowen as they share how optometrists can help patients access research, contribute to clinical trials and bring new skills back into practice.
