Yoga With Alice D

Yoga With Alice D Inclusive, dynamic and relaxing yoga embracing the strength of being a woman at every life stage Welcome to the Yoga With Alice D. Are you scared of yoga?

Do you feel you won’t be able to do it ‘properly’ or all the other ladies will be younger and more flexible and you will feel out of place? My classes are VERY DIFFERENT from ‘drop in’ gym classes. I absolutely do not care what age you are; what shape you might be; how fit you are; or if you have any yoga experience. My women’s classes focus on sensation over form - how does each pose feel? We are

all blessed with our own unique bodies and so everyone’s individual practice will be beautifully different - it is about your own self-care journey. YogaBellies® sessions incorporate a range of yogic and holistic techniques which create a unique experience for our clients. Our sessions incorporate traditional yoga asanas (postures), self-hypnosis and deep relaxation. YogaBellies® classes are entirely unique and our class formula means that 86% of our class attendees have never set foot in a yoga class before. We make sure our classes are non-scary, non-threatening, welcoming and open to all levels of practitioner. We believe that yoga is accessible to everyone. I am delighted to offer:
YogaBellies for Pregnancy
YogaBellies for Fertility
YogaBellies for Mum & Baby
Nurture by YogaBellies (Baby Massage)
YogaBellies for Women
YogaPause (Yoga for 35+ Women)

Have you noticed that every Saturday I share lots of photos from Wendover Woods before class?
There’s a reason.
I’m completely awestruck by it.
It’s a bit like when you have a new baby and you fill your camera roll with hundreds of photos because you can’t quite believe how beautiful they are. That’s how I feel about the woods.
The funny thing is, I’m not always bouncing out of bed at 6am. Sometimes I’d much rather stay under the duvet. Sometimes getting up, getting dressed and leaving the house feels like a challenge.
But every single time, the woods work their magic.
The early morning light is soft and gentle. The air feels different. The world is quieter. There’s a glow that seems to settle over everything, and somehow I always leave feeling calmer, clearer and more myself.
The photos never quite capture it.
So yes, like a proud parent, I’ll keep sharing those Saturday morning woodland photos in my stories because I want you to experience a little piece of what I see.
But if you’re curious, why not come and see if you can find the magic for yourself?

🌿 Global Wellness Day 🌿
What a fitting way to begin Global Wellness Day.
This morning, beneath the trees in Wendover Woods, we gathered for a Luna Wellbeing practice focused on awakening our healing power.
Throughout the class, we returned again and again to three simple questions:
✨ How does your body feel?
✨ How does your mind feel?
✨ How does your soul feel?
That final question felt a little elusive at first.
What does it even mean for the soul to feel something?
Yet by the end of our practice, after movement, breath, reflection and stillness, perhaps there was a little more understanding. Perhaps there was simply a little more space to listen.
We spent time exploring healing and what it really means.
Of course, there are many wonderful professionals who support our wellbeing — doctors, physiotherapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists and countless others.
But healing also exists much closer to home.
In the neighbour who quietly puts your bins out.
In the friend who checks in.
In the shopkeeper who knows your name.
In the smile from a stranger.
In the community that reminds you that you don’t have to carry everything alone.
Sometimes healing arrives not through a treatment, but through connection.
And while the wellness industry can often feel like one big marketing campaign, perhaps true wellbeing begins with something much simpler.
💛 How is your sleep?
💛 How is your nutrition?
💛 How is your movement?
💛 How is your connection?
💛 How is your learning?
Maybe wellness isn’t about adding more.
Maybe it’s about returning to the basics.
Today, on Global Wellness Day, I invite you to pause for a moment and ask yourself:
How does your body feel?
How does your mind feel?
How does your soul feel?

🤍 One of the things I hear most often from expectant mums is:
“I’m excited for my baby to arrive… but I’m worried about making friends on maternity leave.”
And honestly, that’s such a valid concern.
Pregnancy, birth and motherhood bring huge changes, and having people around you who truly understand what you’re going through can make all the difference.
While Pregnancy Yoga may begin with breathing, movement and relaxation, so often it becomes something much more.
Conversations before class.
Shared experiences.
Coffee dates.
WhatsApp groups.
Friendships that continue long after the babies arrive.
Reading messages like this fills my heart because creating community has always been just as important to me as teaching yoga. 🤍
Motherhood feels a little lighter when you don’t have to do it alone.

One of the things I love most about the classes at Yoga with Alice D is that they’re designed to grow with you.
✨ Pregnancy Yoga becomes Nurture Baby Massage.
✨ Nurture Baby Massage becomes Yoga for Mum & Baby.
✨ Yoga for Mum & Baby becomes Yoga with Movers.
✨ Yoga with Movers becomes Yoga Tots.
And whilst your little one continues their journey, you can continue yours too through Women’s Yoga — whether that’s in the daytime, on a Monday evening, or amongst the trees at Yoga in the Woods.
So often I hear people say:
“But my baby is getting too mobile now…”
Or:
“I think we’re ready for the next stage.”
And that’s exactly why these classes exist.
Every stage of motherhood brings something new.
New challenges.
New joys.
New questions.
New opportunities to connect.
You don’t have to start over each time.
You simply take the next step.
So if your current class is coming to an end, perhaps the question isn’t whether your journey with yoga continues…
Perhaps it’s simply:
✨ Is it time to move to your next class?

Most of our lives are spent vertical.
Standing.
Walking.
Driving.
Working.
Rushing from one thing to the next.
And when we’re upright, our attention is often focused outwards:
➡️ What needs doing?
➡️ Where am I going next?
➡️ Who needs me?
➡️ What’s on my list?
Our bodies are literally organised for action.
But something different can happen when we sit, recline or lie down.
Many researchers in embodied cognition suggest that our physical posture influences how we think, feel and behave. When we’re upright, we’re naturally orientated towards movement, productivity and engaging with the world around us.
When we become horizontal, our attention often has the opportunity to shift inwards.
Suddenly we notice:
✨ how tired we are
✨ where we’re holding tension
✨ emotions we’ve been carrying
✨ what we actually need
Perhaps that’s why so many people get into Savasana at the end of a yoga class and think, “Wow, I didn’t realise how much I needed this.”
In my classes, we don’t wait until bedtime to experience that shift.
We weave moments of sitting, reclining, resting and simply being throughout the practice.
Because rest isn’t something that should only happen once you’ve finished everything.
Sometimes the most important question isn’t “What do I need to do next?”
It’s “How do I feel right now?”
And creating space to hear the answer can change everything.

🌙 LUNA 🌙
Every third week in our Women’s Yoga classes, we slow down and reconnect with the wisdom of the moon.
LUNA is a gentle, nourishing practice inspired by the eight phases of the lunar cycle. Each class explores the energy of the current moon phase and how we can work with it, rather than constantly pushing against it.
Nature doesn’t operate at the same pace every day.
The moon waxes and wanes.
The seasons change.
And women are cyclical too.
Throughout the month there are times when we naturally have more energy, confidence and capacity for outward focus. There are also times when our bodies call for rest, reflection, softness and retreat.
LUNA honours all of it.
Rather than expecting ourselves to perform at the same level every day, we learn to listen to our bodies, respect our energy and move in ways that support our wellbeing.
The yoga itself is designed specifically with women’s bodies in mind, combining movement, breathwork, relaxation and reflection. Some classes feel more flowing and uplifting. Others invite deeper rest and restoration.
There is no pressure to keep up.
No expectation to achieve.
No need to be flexible.
You are always encouraged to move at your own pace, take what you need from the practice and honour where you are today.
A chance to step away from the noise.
To soften.
To breathe.
To reconnect with yourself.
Because sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is stop trying to do more and simply allow ourselves to be.

✨ Sometimes the smallest things make the biggest difference.
One of the lovely mums from my Pregnancy Yoga classes recently welcomed her baby girl into the world and sent me this message afterwards. 🤍
The breathwork we practise in class isn’t just for the yoga mat. It’s a tool you can take into pregnancy, labour, birth and beyond.
Hearing that the Yogabellies breath and our rather memorable “floppy face, floppy fanny” mantra helped her stay relaxed during labour (and that baby arrived without any tears!) is such a wonderful reminder of the power of preparation.
Pregnancy Yoga isn’t about perfect poses.
It’s about building confidence, learning practical techniques, connecting with your baby, and feeling supported as you prepare for birth.
Thank you for sharing your story, and congratulations on your beautiful baby girl. ✨

One of my favourite things about teaching yoga in a small community is the people. 🤍

Yesterday I met someone working at a venue and we both had that moment of, “I recognise you…”
It turned out she’d come to my Mum & Baby Yoga classes nine years ago.
Nine years.
Sometimes people come to one block of classes. Sometimes they’re with me for years. Sometimes our paths cross again when they’re pregnant with another baby, bringing a toddler to class, or simply out and about in the community.
I never stop feeling grateful that I get to be a small part of so many people’s stories.
So if we’ve ever met through a yoga class, baby massage session, a walk through Wendover Woods, or a chance encounter in a coffee shop, thank you for being part of this wonderful community. ✨
Seeing familiar faces never gets old.
