This is the person who thinks sleeping well is a more advanced skill than a headstand.
This is the person who believes being able to squat down, get back up, carry your shopping, and feel at home in your body matters rather more.
And, rather surprisingly, to me, this person is turning 61 this week. š„³
I've been practicing yoga since my 30s. As a mum of a toddler and a newborn, it was just something to help me move my body in the precious time I had to myself.
I have a VHS āPennyās Power Yogaā to thank for starting decades of diving into all things yoga from walking into big workshops, glossy studios and trying to hide at the back when I felt out of my depth.
But those moments squeezed around nap times, even if it was just 10 minutes made such a difference to managing the rest of the day. And it was MY time alone, just me.
I admit, at first, I was all about using yoga to get more flexible. I never managed floating into handstands.
And then, noticing that in the excruciating toddler tantrums, I could let a pause wash over me to ride the situation with a bit more zen than usual.
There was something in this yoga stuff that when times got hard, it helped me to respond differently.
The funny thing about turning 61 is I donāt feel older and Iām not sure how I should behave anyways.
So you might see me blaring old skool hip hop from my Skoda Roomster.
And I will be the 90 year old clamouring for LCD Soundsystem at the care home.
Thirty years later this is what actually matters to me these days..
To stop thinking real yoga has to be hours on the mat - No matter how erratic, little moments that bring you back to your foundation are so transformational.
And because Iām celebrating my birthday, Iād like to gift you something too
