🌡️ During hot weather it can be easy to overheat.

Spending too long in the sun or not staying properly hydrated can lead to heat exhaustion. Help prevent heat exhaustion by:

🥛 Drinking plenty of cold drinks.
🚿 Taking cool baths or showers.
👕 Wearing light coloured and loose clothing.
☀️ Staying out of the sun between 11am-3pm.
❌ Avoiding alcohol and exercise as this will prevent dehydration.

The decluttering trend encourages us to decant our cleaning products into jars and other prettier dispensers. But this can put your child at risk.

Please keep products in their original containers and out of reach of curious little hands.

A red heat-health alert is in place across southern England and the Midlands. This means extreme heat could affect everyone, including healthy people, and may also impact transport, food, water and energy. This is only the second time a red alert has been issued, the last being in July 2022.
🥤 Keep hydrated
☀️ Avoid the sun during the hottest parts of the day
🪟 Keep your home cool
🫂 Look out for others

🌞With temperatures soaring in some parts of the UK, are you worried your child isn't drinking enough?

Children should drink 6-8 glasses of water-based fluid every day.

Drinking water is important for good bowel and bladder health, and for tackling daytime wetting, night-time wetting and poo problems like constipation, but we understand it can be hard to get kids to drink enough.

Here are a few tips on how to encourage your child to drink more:

🔵Make ice lollies using well-diluted squash. Don’t add sugar and avoid using blackcurrant squash, which can irritate the bladder.
🔵Jazz up their water with ice cubes, umbrellas and slices of fruit.
🔵Buy or customise your own funky straws.
🔵Let them choose their cup and fill it themselves.
🔵Make sugar-free jellies that contain the equivalent of one cup of water.
🔵Use our Wee Checker colour chart to see if your child is drinking enough. Print it out and put it on your bathroom door so that your child can learn to spot the signs of dehydration and be motivated to have another drink.

⚠️ An amber heat-health alert has been issued by UK Health Security Agency until 11pm on Friday 26 June.

❗️The UKHSA warning has escalated: a red Heat-Health Alert is in effect across the West Midlands from 1am on 24 June 2026 to 11pm on 25 June 2026.

⚠️ In addition, the Met Office has issued an amber extreme heat warning for the West Midlands covering 22-23 June and 24-25 June.
