What does balance have to do with staying active as you get older?
More than you might think.
Balance is not just about preventing falls.
It helps you:
✔️ Walk confidently
✔️ Climb stairs
✔️ Get in and out of the car
✔️ Enjoy your hobbies
✔️ Stay independent
One of the things we regularly see in clinic is people gradually becoming less confident in their movement.
The good news is that balance is something you can work on.
Your body adapts to what you ask of it.
By continuing to move, strengthen and challenge your body, you can help maintain your confidence and independence as you get older.
This week, we’re focusing on Balance & Stability and showing you some simple ways to keep your body moving well.
If you have questions about your balance, mobility or movement, send us a message.
We’re always happy to help.

If you want to stay active for longer...
don’t overlook balance.
Start standing on one leg.
Keep your posture tall.
Slowly reach forwards.
Return to the start position.
Aim for 5-10 controlled repetitions.
This helps improve stability through the foot, ankle, knee and hip.
All areas that help keep us active as we age.

Looking for a simple way to help your body relax before bed?
Try this gentle mobility exercise.
👉 Lie on your back
👉 Keep your knees bent
👉 Slowly move your knees side to side
👉 Breathe slowly as you move
The goal isn’t to stretch harder.
The goal is to encourage gentle movement and relaxation.
A few minutes of movement before bed can help your body feel more comfortable and prepared for rest.

When we talk about strength, we’re not talking about lifting the heaviest weights in the gym.
We’re talking about living life well.

That’s why strength becomes even more important as we get older.
