Something I’m aware of is that in therapy, not everyone needs the same level of support.

Weekly counselling is the right approach for many people. Having the opportunity to understand your behaviours, talk things through and make gradual, lasting changes is often exactly what’s needed.

Sometimes, though, life isn’t quite that straightforward.

You might be dealing with several difficulties at the same time. Relationships, compulsive behaviours, work pressures, shame, anxiety or the impact on family can all become intertwined.

In those situations, it’s often more helpful to step back first, understand the bigger picture and agree a clear plan before deciding what support is likely to help most.

The important thing is that you don’t have to work that out on your own.

That’s something we can explore together.

Most people don’t know what sort of support they need.

They just know something isn’t working anymore.

That’s usually enough to start.

I’ve learnt over the years is that therapy isn’t about following the same process with everyone.

Some people benefit from a regular weekly session. It provides the time, space and opportunity to explore, understand and start to make lasting change.

For others, things aren’t quite so straightforward.

Sometimes several different things may overlap.

Relationships are under pressure, compulsive behaviours have developed, work is affected, or different parts of life have become tangled together.

In those situations, taking the time to understand the bigger picture before deciding what comes next can make all the difference.

Control & Connect isn’t about offering a different kind of therapy. It’s about recognising that some situations benefit from a more holistic approach, where understanding the whole picture comes before deciding on the right path forward.

If you’re wondering where to start, the good news is that you don’t have to work it out on your own. We talk about that and you decide what suits you and how I can best help meet your unique situation.

Why do people develop addictions? Many capable people turn to behaviours that make emotional sense in the moment - they may help you feel better, help you get through an unpleasant experience or feeling and that's great - until they no longer hit the spot. In this new post I explore how addictive behaviours often start as coping strategies and how therapy can help shift them into lasting change. Read more: https://wix.to/K8mqve8

If Findom has started to feel out of control, you’re not alone — and you don’t have to carry it on your own. I work compassionately with people (including many men) who find compulsive spending and online behaviour is harming their finances, relationships and wellbeing.

Start small: reduce your exposure, add practical barriers to payments, and practise a short delay when urges appear. Therapy isn’t about blame — it’s about understanding why the behaviour met a need and building safer ways to meet that need instead.

If you’d like a confidential, non-judgemental space to explore this, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if we’re a good fit. Read more and access a free self-assessment on the blog — then get in touch when you’re ready: https://wix.to/lIVdluK

You don’t have to face this alone.

If you're looking for Findom help, you've probably reached the point where the behaviour no longer feels enjoyable or in control. You may feel trapped, ashamed or unsure what to do next, but recovery is possible. Taking the time to understand what's happening is often the first step towards lasting....
