New research has revealed the cost of the UK’s fast food habit – with 60% of people spending up to £50 a week on takeaways and convenience food.

Our survey of 2,000 UK adults showed that 47% of people believe they’d save a significant amount of money by cutting back – yet one in five people don’t feel confident in cooking from scratch 💔. Those that do cook at home report huge benefits though – with 46% saving money and 40% feeling healthier 🤗.

When it comes to Slimming World members, 88% reported spending up to £100 a week on takeaways before they joined. Since joining, the story is totally different with 39% of respondents saying they’ve cut out takeaways completely… by opting for healthy fakeaways instead, they’re saving a potential £5,000 a year 🤯.

Please meet our lovely Sue, joining Slimming World has been a journey for sure…..through the trials and tribulations of life she has kept her commitment at 100%, this has resulted in an early Christmas Pressie for 2025 - achieving her 5 1/2 stone award! How amazing is that? We are so proud of her. Sue said shedding the weight has made such a difference to her every day life, she is more mobile after suffering with painful joints for years and years, she can keep up with her beautiful granddaughters and life is just easier.

Sue is a valued member of our group, you’ll also meet her at our pay desk, she helps to ensure everyone is made to feel welcome and at ease. She’s an absolute gem for me to have in group every week.

Come along to group, we’ll support you with mindset and psychology of behaviour change, we’ll help with ideas you may need to make your favourite dishes, we’ll be your biggest cheer leader.

Group is held al every Tuesday at 8am, 9.30am and 11am at St Francis of Assisi Church Hall, Ravenswood Avenue, BR4 0PW.
