The first physio session vs. the fourth... 😂

First appointment:
Quiet.
A little nervous.
Carefully climbing onto the treatment bed.

By the fourth appointment:
Chatting away.
Telling us all the latest gossip.
Jumping on the bed like they’ve been coming for years.

It’s completely normal to feel a little nervous at your first appointment, but it doesn’t take long before you feel right at home. 💚

Does cracking your knuckles cause arthritis? 🤔

The short answer... No. It’s a myth.

When you crack a joint, you’re simply releasing gas that’s built up inside the joint fluid. You’re not damaging the joint or causing it to wear out, so it doesn’t lead to arthritis.

That said, if you’re constantly cracking the same joints over and over again, you may start to irritate the surrounding soft tissues. Like anything, too much of it can cause irritation.

So, if you’re worried that cracking your knuckles is causing arthritis, you can stop worrying! 🙌

A little look inside one of Sally’s PT sessions. 💪

This session focused on building strength and improving balance, two things that become even more important as we get older.

By working on both, we can help reduce the risk of falls, improve confidence with everyday movements, and make day-to-day activities feel easier.

It’s not about lifting the heaviest weights; it’s about staying strong, independent, and doing the things you enjoy for longer. 🙌

GLP-1 weight loss medications are one of the biggest talking points right now.

There are lots of different opinions, but Sally’s advice is simple:

If you’re taking a GLP-1 medication for medical reasons, it should be done under the guidance of your GP and alongside a proper nutrition, training and lifestyle plan.

The medication can be a helpful tool, but it’s not the whole answer. Building sustainable habits is what will give you the best results in the long run. 💚

POV: You’re confidently strutting to the waiting room... 😎
..then, two steps before you get there, you completely forget your next patient’s name. 👀😂

The confident walk suddenly turns into a quick backtrack to the computer. We’ve all been there! 🤦‍♀️

Does heat help joint pain? ☀️🦴

If you have arthritis, you might notice your joints feel better in warmer weather. Heat helps increase blood flow and relax stiff joints, which can reduce pain and improve movement.

However, too much heat isn’t always a good thing. It can cause swelling, especially in the feet and ankles, as fluid doesn’t drain as efficiently.

Interestingly, people with arthritis often respond better to moist heat than dry heat. Treatments like warm baths, heat packs, or even wax baths (commonly used for hand and wrist arthritis) can help ease stiffness and discomfort.

If your joints are feeling stiff, the right type of heat could make all the difference. 🌡️
