5 things worth spending money on in your 50s

1. Your health
Things that help you feel strong, mobile, energised and well.

2. Your time
Pay someone to do the things you don’t want to do, so you have more time for the things you do want to do.

3. Experiences
Travel, concerts, retreats, weekends away, adventures. Things you’ll remember rather than things you’ll eventually throw away.

4. The people you love
Going for the lovely lunch. Booking the holiday. Saying yes to the weekend away. Creating memories.

5. Your happiness
And I don’t mean buying happiness. I mean being willing to spend money on things that genuinely make your everyday life better — yoga, a massage, a beautiful meal, a book, a hobby, a bloody good coffee… whatever makes you think, “Yep, that was worth it.”

And I think there’s a really good sixth idea hiding in there: freedom.

At 50+, spending money to buy choice and freedom can be incredibly valuable — working less, travelling more, taking a spontaneous weekend away, saying no to things you don’t want to do.

Apparently, I’m very good at doing nothing… when I put my mind to it. 😂🌿

What a lovely weekend. Feeling very grateful for the summer we’ve had and for a weekend that was a perfect mix of nature, movement, rest and absolutely no rushing about.

🌿 A wander around Stourhead — forever one of my favourite places

🧘‍♀️ Park Yoga on Sunday morning

😴 Restorative & Nidra to round off the weekend

☕️ And a healthy amount of doing very little in between!

Sometimes the best weekends are the ones where you don’t achieve much at all… apart from feeling a little more like yourself.

But alas… Monday has arrived. 😂

I’m back at Nuffield this morning at 9.30am, and we’re still a little quieter while the school holidays wind down.

So, if you’ve been saying “I really must get back to yoga”… this is your sign. 😉

Get yourself booked in for your regular classes this week.

And the weather forecast is promising some much-needed rain, so basically… perfect yoga weather incoming. 🌧️🧘‍♀️

See you on the mat. 🤍

What a lovely weekend.

Feeling really grateful for the beautiful summer we’ve had and for weekends that have a little bit of everything.

A wander around the gardens at Stourhead (always one of my favourite places), a wonderful Park Yoga on Sunday morning, and then rounding it all off with a beautiful Restorative & Nidra class last night.

A lovely balance of not doing very much, being outside, connecting with nature and simply slowing down.

And now… back to it!

I’ll be at Nuffield this morning at 9.30am, and although things are still a little quieter as we come towards the end of the school holidays, don’t forget to get yourselves booked in for your regular classes this week at the studio.

And apparently… some much-needed rain is on the way! 🌧️

See you on the mat.

I had a really lovely realisation this morning as I was getting ready to teach Park Yoga Weston🥹

A little proud teacher moment.

This morning, three of our Sacred Space graduates were out there creating opportunities and teaching in their own right:

Maria of was teaching at Mendip Minifest for Sacred Space Yoga, Magic of Enough

Steph was leading a community event at Meadfields for Magic of Enough. Moonwell Movement

And Hayley was teaching Hayley Sarah

And here’s the thing…

These guys only graduated in June.

It stopped me in my tracks for a moment because this is exactly what I hoped would happen when I created our teacher training.

One of the things I promise every teacher trainee who comes through Sacred Space is that when opportunities come my way, I don’t keep them for myself. I share them with my network.

Because I believe there is enough.

Enough students.
Enough opportunities.
Enough space for all of us to grow.

And when you build a community where people genuinely want to see each other succeed, something pretty special happens.

These opportunities are a testament to their hard work, their dedication and the teachers they are becoming — but also to the power of connection and community.

Watching them step out into the world and make yoga their own is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

So yes… I’m feeling a little proud this morning. ❤️

And to my current and future teacher trainees: your journey doesn’t end when you graduate. In many ways, that’s where it really begins.

A little help from our wonderful community 💛

Earlier this year, the introduction of the residents’ parking scheme around the studio had a really significant impact on Sacred Space Yoga and, I know, on many other local businesses too.

We’ve now received a letter asking for feedback on the scheme — and I’d really love to make sure that the voices of the people who actually live, work and use businesses in this area are heard.

I’m sharing the letter below, including the QR code, so if you have a few minutes, please scan it and share your experience.

Whether you’re a resident, a local business owner, a customer, or someone who visits the area regularly, your feedback matters.

This isn’t about being against residents’ parking or making life difficult for local residents. It’s about finding a system that works for residents AND for the local businesses and community that make this area what it is.

Sacred Space is a small independent business, and the changes earlier this year genuinely affected us. So if you’ve noticed the impact too, please take a moment to have your say.

The more people who respond, the clearer the picture will be. 🙏

Thank you, as always, for supporting our little studio and our local community. 💛

Please share this post too, so we can reach as many local people as possible.
