5 things worth spending money on in your 50s
1. Your health
Things that help you feel strong, mobile, energised and well.
2. Your time
Pay someone to do the things you don’t want to do, so you have more time for the things you do want to do.
3. Experiences
Travel, concerts, retreats, weekends away, adventures. Things you’ll remember rather than things you’ll eventually throw away.
4. The people you love
Going for the lovely lunch. Booking the holiday. Saying yes to the weekend away. Creating memories.
5. Your happiness
And I don’t mean buying happiness. I mean being willing to spend money on things that genuinely make your everyday life better — yoga, a massage, a beautiful meal, a book, a hobby, a bloody good coffee… whatever makes you think, “Yep, that was worth it.”
And I think there’s a really good sixth idea hiding in there: freedom.
At 50+, spending money to buy choice and freedom can be incredibly valuable — working less, travelling more, taking a spontaneous weekend away, saying no to things you don’t want to do.
