I have over 30 people signed up for Free Online Yoga Nidra tomorrow (Sunday) evening at 7.45pm. That tells me it's much needed!
Still a few spots left for those who feel called to rest and reset at the end of the summer.

Our extended 75 min practice will be on releasing what no longer serves you and harvesting the fruits of the summer and the last rays to warm your bones as the earth turns.

Elder and sea buckthorn berries are ready to pick and I'll be busy this weekend making yummy, immune-boosting syrup for autumn. How are you preparing for the next phase of the year? let me know in the comments.

You are most welcome to join us live tomorow or with the recording

“We are family.”

One of our trainees said this on retreat in July.

She’d been talking about a friend who had done her teacher training elsewhere. There were only three trainees on the course and there wasn’t really anything connecting them - not even a WhatsApp group.

And then she looked around at her own group and said: “We are family.”

This says everything you need to know about yoga! At the heart of it, yoga is about connection and it’s a really important part of teacher training.

We start getting to know each other three months before the course begins, with a WhatsApp group and two online meet-and-greets. Then there are nine months of learning together, practising together, the retreat, and all the conversations and experiences that happen around the edges of the actual curriculum.

After graduation, our graduates have free access to the Yoga by Nature Teachers Network, as well as the option to join The Teachers’ Circle for ongoing peer support, CPD and regular online and in-person gatherings. There are retreat days and weekends too.
So perhaps “we are family” isn’t such a bad description.

Early Bird applications for the January 2027 teacher training close on 1 September. For more information and to see our prospectus, follow the link in bio.

Being advanced at asana isn’t necessarily an advantage as a yoga teacher trainee. Being curious IS 🙌

There is so much to a yoga teacher training course beyond the physical practice.

We study yoga postures because the body can be a gateway into deeper self-knowledge. Physical practice can help us cultivate the qualities we need to look more closely at ourselves, and there are, of course, many therapeutic benefits to asana.

But that’s only part of the picture.

On our course, there’s philosophy, with its questions about existence, consciousness and what it means to be human. There’s mindfulness and somatics, which invite us to investigate our own experience from the inside. We explore ethics, yoga history, different styles of yoga and their benefits, the four paths of yoga, Ayurveda — and much more besides.

And yes, there are bodies. We study anatomy, movement and asana, alongside sequencing and the practical craft of learning how to teach.

But none of that requires you to arrive with extraordinary strength, flexibility or an impressive repertoire of poses.

Bring a body. Every body is welcome.

More importantly, bring your curiosity. We only ask that you have a minimum of two years’ yoga practice behind you.

I can’t say in words how profound it is to spend a weekend in the elements studying Yoga.

Our incredible 200 YTT 2026 cohort will be qualifying as teachers in just a couple of months. It was inspiring and moving to see the connections made, skills shared and collective wisdom evolving within this group.

Yoga, lake swims, learning, hours of chats in the garden, by the water and everywhere in between.

And yes, we did watch the quarter-finals ⚽️

Thank you to our current trainees for your openness, kindness for each other and the way you have supported each other to become unique, authentic Yoga teachers.

Thank you to Jojo .ayurveda.academy for joining us to share the life changing wisdom of Ayurveda.

Special thanks also to Gillian at Holworthy Farm who made us feel so welcome

Applications are open for 2027. We would love to hear from you if you’re ready for the next step. Find out more through the link in bio. 🧘

If you’ve been wondering what to say to yoga students about the vagus nerve, you’re not alone.
The science has outgrown the original autonomic model of Polyvagal Theory, so what now?

In my free guide, Beyond Polyvagal Theory, I explore:

* What Polyvagal Theory contributed to yoga teaching.
* Why the “poly” aspect of the theory is now being questioned.
* What cardiac vagal tone is—and why it matters.
* Why these developments are exciting for yoga teachers.
* How yoga continues to support healthy nervous system regulation.
* What language to avoid—and what to say instead.

Whether you’ve been teaching for twenty years or have only recently qualified, this guide will help you talk about the nervous system with greater confidence and clarity.

Simply comment VAGUS and I’ll send you the link to your free copy straight to your inbox

Anyone else spend the 90s trying to disappear?

It’s extraordinary how many women my age grew up believing the greatest compliment we could receive was that we’d lost weight.

I spent decades trying to become smaller. Remember More magazine and the skeletal models?

Oh dear.

Then I spent much of my thirties searching for enlightenment.
I thought yoga was leading me towards spiritual freedom.

I didn’t realise what was unfolding was a much more ordinary kind of liberation:

Freedom from counting calories.
Freedom from shrinking myself.
Freedom from believing my worth depended on the size of my jeans.
Freedom to take up space.
Freedom to value myself because I am a human being, not because I fit into a particular dress size.

Over the years, I stopped seeing my body as an encumbrance - an unsolvable problem. It became something else entirely:

🎁A gift handed to me by generations before me.

🧘‍♀️The only place I will ever experience this life.

🚪The portal through which I experience love, grief, movement, connection and wonder.

Yoga and mindfulness, they say, bring you freedom from suffering. For me, one of its greatest gifts has been this:

Not freedom from my body.
Freedom within it.

I write more about this process in my latest blog. Drop FREEDOM in the comments for the link.

🗯️ I’d love to know whether anyone else recognises this experience.
