🌳 Plum lovely!🌳

Our residents have been making the most of the sunshine this week here at St Georges Nursing Home, heading out into the orchard to pick some delicious Victoria plums and sloes. 🌳🧺

After a very thorough bit of “quality control” along the way 😉, the harvest was handed over to our talented kitchen team to work their magic and turn it into some tasty homemade delights.
The discussion followed of what will be coming first… plum crumble, jam, or something involving a generous helping of custard!

Home-grown goodness, straight from our orchard to our kitchen , with the apples and pears yet to come !!… it doesn’t get much fresher than that! 💜🌳 🌳🍎🍑

🎉🎂 HAPPY 88TH BIRTHDAY TO OUR BEAUTIFUL ANN! 🎂🎉

What a truly wonderful day we had celebrating our gorgeous Ann as she turned an amazing 88! 💕✨

With our Birthday Bonanza bash yesterday we carried on the celebrations today with a special trip to the beach, where Ann enjoyed the fresh sea air & a delicious fruity Ice-cream . We then enjoyed taking in the sea views while Ann opened her birthday cards right by the seaside.

What a perfect way to make some very special birthday memories! 💌🥰 After returning home, the celebrations continued as Ann spent a beautiful afternoon surrounded by her gorgeous family. ❤️ There were even more ice creams to enjoy, plenty of smiles and laughter, and a very special individual birthday cake lovingly made just for Ann by our wonderful kitchen team! 🎂👏

A day filled with family, sunshine, treats, laughter and so much love — exactly what our lovely Ann deserved! 🥳💖

⚓️ 🚤 All aboard St Georges Nursing Home for a triple birthday celebration this week ! 🚣‍♀️🎂

We certainly pushed the boat out this week as we celebrated the upcoming birthdays of Pearl, Ann & Mick with our fabulous Henley Regatta afternoon tea! Delicious refreshments, nautical decorations and brilliant live entertainment from Anne Sings , the afternoon was filled with music, laughter and plenty of happy faces. 🎶

The finishing touch was our irresistible Regatta Royale Chocolate, Caramel & Cookies ’n’ Cream Cake — a decadent chocolate creation piled high with cookies, cream and caramel deliciousness. 🍫🍪👑

Three birthdays, one fantastic celebration and lots of wonderful memories made. Happy Birthday! 🎉🥂

🌻 PROJECT SUNSHINE – MAKING EVERY MOMENT MATTER 🌻

A Project Sunshine outing for Cynthia, enjoying a couple of day filled with some of her favourite things — visiting a selection of beautiful garden centres, Sanders Garden Centre, part of Blue Diamond Garden Centres & Cadbury Garden Centre, part of Blue Diamond Garden Centre taking time to browse, explore and soak up the surroundings, followed by a lovely lunch and, of course, a little more merriment along the way! 🌸🌿☕🥂

Project Sunshine is about so much more than arranging days out. It’s about truly knowing each resident as an individual here St Georges Nursing Home — understanding the hobbies, passions and interests that have brought them joy throughout their lives, and making sure those things continue to be embraced.

Most importantly, it’s about time. Time to listen, time to laugh, time to reminisce, time to enjoy the things that matter, and time dedicated entirely to making someone feel valued and special.
Sometimes the most meaningful moments are simply created by giving someone your time. 💛

📚Book Lovers’ Day – Plot Twists, Pencils, Paws & Cake! 📚 The bookworms were well and truly out for Book Lovers’ Day, and thankfully nobody tried to shush us ! here at St Georges Nursing Home

We were delighted to welcome storyteller Michael Loader, who had everyone captivated with a brilliant visit full of stories, laughter and a little literary magic. Residents also enjoyed dipping into different books throughout the day, sharing favourite extracts and proving that you’re never too old for “just one more chapter…” 📖

Our lovely resident Brenda then added her own creative chapter by sharing her love of Zentangle. Pens were poised, concentration faces were activated, and some fabulous handmade bookmarks appeared — because every good book deserves a bookmark with a bit of personality! ✏️🔖

A huge thank you to our amazing kitchen team too, who created a magical book-themed cake for the occasion. It looked almost too good to eat… almost. 🎂📚

And then came Callie, our PAT dog, who wasn’t particularly interested in the plot but was extremely enthusiastic about cuddles, attention and making sure she remained the main character. 🐾😂

A fabulous day of books, banter, creativity, cake and canine interruptions 🐾📚

🎈🌸 Bristol Balloon Fiesta… without even leaving the home! 🌸🎈

We brought a little bit of the Bristol Balloon Fiesta magic indoors, with our residents creating a beautiful floating garden of hot air balloons, complete with fresh flowers tucked into wicker balloon baskets. Who needs to chase balloons across Bristol when residents and staff could enjoy them from the comfort of St Georges Nursing Home 🌸🏡

Of course, no Balloon Fiesta celebration would be complete without our kitchen team keeping up our annual tradition of the magnificent 7-tier cake! 🎂🌈 Seven tiers of rainbow colour, creativity and the very real challenge of working out which layer to start with first!

Residents enjoyed a slice washed down with a rather sophisticated chilled barista-style iced coffee ☕🧊

A colourful, flower-filled and wonderfully uplifting day bringing one of Bristol’s favourite traditions right into our home. 🎈💐❤️

🥤🎉 Sip Sip Hooray… hydration is coming home! 🎉🥤

We’re delighted to share that St Georges Nursing Home has won the Sip Sip Hooray competition with Sirona care & health! 🏆💦

Throughout the summer months, our fantastic kitchen team have been keeping everyone refreshed with lots of fun, varied and original ideas to make sure our residents stay well hydrated. ☀️🍉🍓
Working together with our residents, we created a colourful selection of fruity drinks and mocktails, with residents involved from start to finish — from choosing ingredients to helping with coming up with some brilliant football-inspired names! 🍹⚽

⭐ The Pensionalty Shootout – Watermelon & Berry Blast Spritz 🍉🍓

⚽ Golden Goal – Brazilian Lemonade 🍋🥤

Our creations were entered into the Sip Sip Hooray competition, and we were absolutely thrilled to WIN a wonderful hamper full of goodies! 🎁🥳

A huge well done to our kitchen team and, of course, our wonderful residents for making hydration fun, creative and definitely something worth raising a glass to! 🥂💙

🐴🍦 🐴🍦 Hold your horses—the ice cream had arrived! here at St Georges Nursing Home today 🏡🌞

We had a cone-tastic visit from Clip Clop Cones and their wonderful horse-drawn ice-cream cart. Residents , families & the local community enjoyed choosing their favourite treats, whether they were soaking up the sunshine outside or relaxing comfortably indoors. There were smiles, sticky fingers and plenty of horsing around—proof that you’re never too old for a visit from the ice-cream cart!

A huge thank you to Clip Clop Cones for trotting by and making our day extra sweet. It was an unforgettable afternoon! 🐴🍦🌞

💙🌹 Ey Up ! …. Our Yorkshire Day was celebrated a little late but we certainly made the most of the day here St Georges Nursing Home. Residents enjoyed a morning of creative art, producing some brilliant Yorkshire-themed masterpieces with the art work still in progress!

Our afternoon moved on to the very serious business of tasting some Yorkshire delights ….. Fat Rascals, Yorkshire Gingerbread Parkin and Yorkshire shortbread, all washed down with a proper cup of Yorkshire Tea☕🍰

Individual room visits, bringing our Taste of Yorkshire to residents who couldn’t make it to the group activity ensured nobody missed out on cake! The staff were more than happy to help with the taste-testing too… purely for quality-control purposes, of course. 😄

It really was a grand day filled with laughter, proper brews and everything Yorkshire 💙 style!” ☕🌹
