Programming, accountability & support can make strength training completely doable for runners.

If you can get yourself into a routine, you can make it fit nicely into your training routine without struggling with fatigue or injury.

Strength training helps to improve your running economy & reduces fatigue during the final miles of a training run or race & who doesn’t want that?!

Let me know your reasons for not doing strength training & I’ll see how I can help to get you started!

Why do I have a coach?

- To keep me accountable - I know what I should do but it’s easy to skip things or leave the sessions out that I don’t enjoy when left to my own devices!

- To spot if I’m overdoing it from my feedback about how the week has gone as well as looking at my paces & heart rate stats.

- To rein me in if I’ve been injured or ill & plan subsequent weeks around this when I could be tempted to push through, even though I should know better!

- To take any decision-making out of my hands. My strength sessions are loaded onto an app for me to follow & my runs are programmed so I can send them straight to my watch. I can just turn up & train.

- To have someone in my corner who believes in my & pushes me to improve (because I want to!)

- To continue learning from someone working in the same industry as me.

- DM COACH if you would like to know more about how my coaching could help you!

Plyometrics for runners- why include them in your training?

- Better running economy - same speed for less effort.

- Springier tendons - your tendons get better at storing & releasing energy.

- Faster force production - helps your nervous system to fire quicker.

- Lowers your injury risk - your tissues adapt to the loads you train them with. Plyos prepare bone & tendons for impact.

- Improved proprioception & balance - hops, bounds & skips build control & coordination at the knee & ankle so your form holds up when you are fatigued.

What can strength training do for you after injury that rest can’t?

Strength can give you muscles, ligaments & tendons that absorb impact enabling you to get back to your running plans.

It can build muscles that support your joints when you start to fatigue towards the end of a run.

Confidence that your body won’t break down whether you are training or racing.

The ability to push yourself on hills, to get faster or run for longer without fear of getting injured.

A body that is more resilient than it was prior to injury.

What’s not to like?!

If you feel you would benefit from adding strength work to your training DM STRONG & we can get you started.
