Dear Hoomans

I am Alban Elfed, the Light of Water, and I arrive when day and night stand equal, bringing with me the gentle turning of the year.

Long ago, the Druids welcomed me with the last harvest of the year. They gathered the fruits, berries, nuts and grains that Mother Earth had so generously provided and gave thanks for her abundance.

I rather like that idea.

For I am here to remind you to pause and notice what has been given. The trees have offered their fruits, the hedgerows their berries, the earth her harvest … and now the leaves begin to let go, teaching us that there is beauty in both gathering and releasing.

So, Hoomans, take a little time to give thanks for your own harvest - for the things that have grown, the moments that have nourished you and the abundance that may be hiding in the ordinary.

And when you feel the first autumn breeze upon your face, remember … nothing is ending. The earth is simply beginning another beautiful turn of the wheel.

Hello hoomans!

Step softly and listen closely. It’s World Rhino Day and I’m here to remind you that I am one of the living relics of Earth’s wild history.

I am Rhino, a tank of strength, a gentle guardian and a creature shaped by over 50 million years of survival. My horn isn’t bone, it’s keratin, the same as your hair and nails, and I carry it proudly through forests, grasslands and savannas. I love a good mud bath. It’s sunscreen, insect repellent and a spa all in one. Despite my size, I can sprint faster than you’d expect and with my keen nose and ears, I always know what’s coming before my eyes do.

I live alongside friends, like the oxpecker birds perched on my back, sharing life and warning each other of danger. I raise my calves with patience and care, teaching them the ways of the wild, just as my ancestors have for millions of years. Each pile of dung tells a story in my community, a social media feed that’s 100% natural.

Here’s my message, dear hoomans:

• Move with awareness.
• Protect what is ancient and rare.
• Respect strength, even when it is quiet.
• And remember, survival takes patience, wisdom and a bit of stubborn courage.

I am Rhino, ancient, resilient and proof that endurance and presence are as mighty as any horn.

Hello hoomans!

Step softly and open your heart. It’s National Elephant Appreciation Day and we’ve come to remind you why we gentle giants are the true keepers of wisdom on land.

We are Elephants, colossal in size but tender in spirit. Our ears flap like natural air-conditioning, our trunks have 40,000 muscles to lift, sniff, splash and explore, and our memories stretch for decades, holding the stories of waterholes, migration paths and long-lost friends.

We live in families led by wise matriarchs, we feel deeply and we comfort each other in grief or distress. Some of us are swimmers, others are gardeners of the wild, spreading seeds and helping forests and grasslands flourish. And yes, we can even “hear” through our feet, sensing the vibrations of the Earth itself.

Here’s our message, dear hoomans:

• Move gently.
• Use your strength wisely.
• Cherish your family.
• And never underestimate the power of memory, empathy and quiet wisdom.

We are Elephants, majestic, compassionate, endlessly curious and proof that the largest hearts can belong to the biggest beings.
